A ground-breaking shared framework for our profession

Our membership categories and those of the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies (PCPB) partner are fully aligned to the columns of theÌýSCoPEd framework.Ìý

For Â鶹ԭ´´Ìýour:Ìý

• registered membership categoryÌýisÌýaligned to column AÌý
• accreditedÌýmembership categoryÌýisÌýaligned to column BÌý
• senior accredited membership is aligned to column C

YouÌýdon’tÌýneed to do anything if youÌýdon’tÌýwish to move membership categories, andÌýwe’dÌýlike to reassure you thatÌýyou’llÌýstill be able to:ÌýÌý

• continue to be recognised as a qualified, credible and ethical counselling or psychotherapy professionalÌý
• keep allÌýbenefits of being a Â鶹ԭ´´ member
• provide all the services you currently doÌý
• practise competences in other SCoPEd columns providing you have the right skills, knowledge, training and experience to do soÌý

If you wish to move membership categories, there are a range ofÌýaccreditation routesÌýtoÌýenable Â鶹ԭ´´ members to demonstrate their SCoPEd competences and continue their career progression as a Â鶹ԭ´´ member. The routeÌýthat’sÌýright for you will depend on your training and experience.Ìý

Ensuring accessibility and widening opportunities sit at the core of these routes, which will recognise the wide variety of training pathways by which our members enter the profession and then continue to develop post-qualification.Ìý

If you identify as living with a disability or learning difference, we can offer additional support to help remove any barriers you may experience with the application process. Ìý

As an individual member youÌýwon’tÌýbe represented in theÌýSCoPEdÌýframework untilÌýyou’veÌýjoined the Register.ÌýYou can make use of the framework and theÌýaccreditation routes which offer guidance about what kind of training and career progression options might be right for you in the future.Ìý

Registered Â鶹ԭ´´ membersÌý

As a registeredÌýmemberÌýyou’reÌýaligned to column A of theÌýSCoPEd framework.ÌýÌý

If you wish toÌýmove between our membership categoriesÌýandÌýyou’reÌýeligible, there areÌýfour accreditation routes to apply forÌýaccredited membershipÌýorÌýfour accreditation routesÌýto apply forÌýyou canÌýapply forÌýsenior accredited membership.ÌýÌýTheÌýaccreditation routeÌýthat’sÌýright for you will depend on your training and experience.ÌýÌý

Accredited Â鶹ԭ´´ membersÌý

As an accreditedÌýmemberÌýyou’reÌýaligned to column B of theÌýSCoPEd framework.ÌýÌý

If you wish to move membership category and you're eligible, you can apply forÌýsenior accredited membership. There are four routesÌýfor you to apply. The accreditation routeÌýthat’sÌýright for you will depend on your training and experience.ÌýÌý

Senior accredited Â鶹ԭ´´ members

As a senior accreditedÌýmemberÌýyou’reÌýaligned to column C of theÌýSCoPEdÌýframework, you don’t need to do anything, but you may be interested in the accreditation routes available to our members.

Organisational Â鶹ԭ´´ membersÌý

As anÌýorganisational member youÌýwon’tÌýbe represented onÌýtheÌýSCoPEd frameworkÌýbut you may be interested in theÌýaccreditation routesÌýavailable to our members.Ìý

If you’re a training provider which offers a Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited course or Â鶹ԭ´´ approved qualification, you'll have until early 2028 to integrate any necessary changes to your training programmes. We're working directly with accredited courses and awarding bodies offering approved qualifications to achieved this.Ìý

Retired Â鶹ԭ´´ membersÌý

As a retired memberÌýyouÌýwon’tÌýbe represented in theÌýSCoPEdÌýframeworkÌýas you are no longer practising but you may still in interested in what it means to our members.ÌýÌý
