About me and my therapy practice
So why choose me?
I have over 20 years of experience providing in-person and online therapy to individuals and couples, with a particular expertise in issues relating to anxiety and depression, relationships, ADHD, and past trauma.
To help you decide whether I may be the right fit for you I offer clients a free initial online or phone consultation in which you can share your initial thoughts, feelings, and talk about the difficulties you are experiencing.
I specialise in Integrative Counselling, which means I believe there are a number of different approaches to counselling. I understand that no one person or couple are the same, that different problems require different solutions, and that no single theory is sufficient - and I adapt my approach accordingly.
Practice description
My ethos as a therapist is client-lead.
In our sessions you can expect:
- To start with what has bought you to therapy, whether personal, family, or work-related.
- To collaborate on what outcomes you want to achieve together.
- For me to guide you through discussing the context of the issues you want to work through, as well as your wider experiences.
- For me to help you through a process of self-reflection to make links and see unhelpful patterns in your life.
- For me to encourage and challenge in equal measure - my role is to support you through what might be a difficult process to achieve lasting change.
- When working with clients, I often describe the issues each of us is carrying through life as items in our own personal suitcase.
- My priority is creating a space which is welcoming and collaborative - allowing you to feel safe to explore and unpack what you are struggling with.
My role is to be someone you can rely on to hold the load with you as we unpack together - so you feel more able to process what you have been carrying.
I may be a good fit for you if…
- you feel stuck or overwhelmed
- you have a problem you can’t figure out
- you think you aren’t good enough
- you are not where you want to be
- you want to move forward instead of going in circles
- you feel that you can’t make changes alone
My first session
I understand choosing the right person to work with may seem daunting and it is important to find the right fit for you, especially when you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by life events.
You may feel anxious coming for your first session, not knowing exactly what to expect. Knowing this I offer a safe and relaxed space to begin to explore the issues that have brought you to counselling.
Remember, this session belongs to you, so use it in whatever way works best.
During your first counselling session I will typically ask certain questions about you and your life. This information helps me make an initial assessment of your situation and what work may be most helpful.
This may include:
- Your reasons for seeking counselling.
- Your personal history and current situation.
- Your current symptoms.
- Previous counselling experience, if any.
- What you may expect from the counselling process.
- What you are looking to change or achieve.
It is important to remember I am not here to judge or blame but to help you get the most from our work together..

About me and my therapy practice
I provide Counsellors with passionate, dynamic supervision to achieve the very best in your professional development, and varies depending on the needs of the supervisee.
Often when training the question of, 'how to use supervision most effectively' is not always addressed fully and can leave counsellors not taking full advantage of how supervision can help in their work.
I believe supervision to be so much more that something you have to do to adhere to the criteria of your professional body. Passionate supervision encourages you to avoid complacency, embrace new ideas, look at alternative view points and build on your knowledge base providing:
- A positive and understanding supervisory working alliance, whilst I trained in Integrative Supervision covering Person Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic approaches I also welcome working with all orientations and have supervised a number of other approaches
- A range of methods to give accurate and constructive feed back
- A non-judgemental space for you to explore your client work, allowing you to raise any issues that you feel maybe impacting on the progress of the therapy
- Reflection on your client work and help with looking at ways of improving how you work with your clients
- Encouraging you to acknowedge your progress and recognise achievements
- Personal counselling where what is happening in your personal life may or is impacting on your practice
- Recognition of the additional issues raised when working within an organisation
- Education and putting theory into practice, this will be more important for student counsellors and can include help with academic work, it will also include individual course requirements such as assessments these are charged as a separate fee
- A recognition of your own level of experience, thus tailoring supervision to your specific needs. This relationship will change over time and as the supervisee gains more experience the emphasis moves towards that of collaboration.
