My first session

When you arrive for your first session I will do all that I can to help you feel at ease. I am interested in getting to know you and hearing about what it is that has brought you to counselling.

I will explain my confidentiality policy to you and you are most welcome to ask me questions about counselling and the way I work. I have a client agreement form and data protection policy which we can also discuss.

You may wish to talk about what you are hoping to gain from counselling, or you might not be sure yet. Often this becomes clearer as therapy progresses. It may be that you are feeling distressed and want to speak about your issue immediately.

I am here to listen and to support you in moving forward. People often find that counselling helps them to reach understandings and to know themselves at a deeper level.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Â鶹ԭ´´ Accredited supervisor with over 20 years experience. I work with trainee and experienced practitioners, including supervision for supervisors. Sessions can be online, or in person at my practice in Stanmore, HA7.

My collaborative, person-centred approach involves working together to explore your relationships with clients and attend to your personal and professional development.

I value the work of both neurotypical and neurodivergent supervisees. As a neurodivergent affirming supervisor, I aim to provide a supportive space where there is no need to perform ‘neurotypically’. Masking can be exhausting and may hide your natural strengths. Together we can look at your way of processing, such as pattern recognition, hyper-focus and deep empathy, understanding how these qualities can enhance your work.

Supervision can include:

  • Preparation for Â鶹ԭ´´ Accreditation
  • Starting and maintaining a private practice
  • Working in organisations and placements
  • Individual and couples counselling

Practice description

Supervision is a supportive relationship that enables you to meet the needs of your clients and supervisees whilst taking good care of yourself and increasing your confidence as a practitioner.

I find that supervision is most effective when supervisor and supervisee have a trusting, warm and respectful relationship. This allows you to be self-reflective and to examine your work openly. We work collaboratively to explore anything that might prevent you from being empathic, genuine and non-judgemental. We may also discuss counselling theory and how it relates to your practice.

I believe that a practitioner's capacity to be fully engaged and present depends upon their ability to recognise and own their feelings and attitudes toward others. Developing self-awareness involves exploring your emotional responses and reactions during our sessions. Together, we examine how your unique experiences and perspectives might affect your professional practice. Understanding your own processes allows you to respond more authentically.

Whether you are at the beginning of your counselling career or an established practitioner, I hope you will find that the supervision I offer is in tune with your level of understanding and experience whilst facilitating your professional development

NEW WORKSHOP SERIES

Inner Landscape: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Three 2-hour workshops: Oct 14th, 21st, & 28th | 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Full Series Fee: £140, Early Bird Price: £120 by September 30th

If you are passionate about personal growth and deepening your self-awareness, this online workshop series is for you. Together, we will explore our inner landscapes through the gentle practice of Focusing, supported by group discussions, exercises, and Focusing and Companioning in pairs.

If you are new to Focusing you will find a gentle introduction to connecting with your body’s wisdom.

If you already practice Focusing the series offers spacious time for personal growth and fresh discovery.

Exploring Your Internal World

Something rich opens up when we move our attention beneath everyday thoughts and feelings into the bodily landscape. Deep wisdom is held within the body; you can feel this quality in the moments when an inner experience takes on a physical presence. The heavy feeling of dread in your stomach or a spacious lightness when you have expressed something important and feel truly heard. In Focusing, we call this physical resonance the "felt sense."

The Three Workshops

Day 1 - Your Inner Landscape: We begin our journey, venturing into vague and unknown territory with guided Focusing meditations, taking in the scenery and pausing at areas of interest.

Day 2 - Your Physical Landscape: We return to the physical realm with a Wholebody Focusing meditation, inviting awareness of your whole self, supported by the environment. See what happens when you express yourself freely with movement and sound.

Day 3 - Your Emotional Landscape: We travel deep into emotional realms to explore this rich area of your inner landscape. Emotions can feel like a storm that we either get swept up in or try to push away. Self-in-Presence is a safe and gentle way of being with your emotions.

About me and my therapy practice

Focusing is a valuable addition to my counselling and supervision practice. It creates a space for self-exploration and becoming a more empathic and accepting listener. Therapists and supervisors can consider bringing Focusing to their practice.

I am a Registered Focusing practitioner with the British Focusing Association (BFA). Training is online, and many people find that learning in a group setting both enhances their experience and provides a valuable opportunity for making new connections and finding Focusing partners.

I teach Focusing to  people who are interested in personal and professional development, including counsellors, therapists and supervisors. Focusing is a gentle somatic approach. it offers a way of listening inside and deepening self-awareness. Focusing trusts that our body knows and can tell us what we need for physical and emotional health.

Trainings include a downloadable workbook or journal

I have designed a downloadable workbook or journal  to accompany my trainings so that you can have a record of your learning. You will find spaces for personal notes and reflections, clear explanations of Focusing concepts, exercises and reading and listening suggestions to further your learning.
