About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw upon a range of therapeutic theories and approaches, tailoring my work to meet your individual needs. I understand that every person experiences life differently, shaped by their unique history, relationships, culture, social context, neurodivergence and life experiences. Work begins with understanding your perspective - how your past, relationships, culture and current circumstances shape what you're feeling today.
Whilst I am inherently person-centred in my approach, I also offer motivational interviewing as an approach to help you locate answers from within, without the influence of those around you.
My approach is two-fold:
Safe and Compassionate:
Feeling safe, accepted and not rushed is fundamental to the therapeutic process. My experience of engaging vulnerable, hard-to-reach clients has reinforced the importance of creating a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. I understand that trust develops over time and I work at a pace that feels comfortable and appropriate for each individual.
I offer a warm and respectful space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. I aspire to support you through whatever difficulties you may be facing and help you move towards greater clarity, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
I focus on building a trusting relationship because this relationship provides the foundation for meaningful exploration, healing and change.
Progressive and Interactive:
I actively engage in the therapeutic process by helping you identify recurring patterns, exploring the origins of behaviours that may be causing conflict or distress and making sense of how your past experiences continue to influence your present life.
Together we can develop greater self-awareness, make sense of your experiences, challenge unhelpful patterns and explore healthier ways of relating to yourself and others that are closely aligned with your values and aspirations.
Practice description
In a world that is fast-paced, it is all too easy to lose ourselves, being swept up in a cycle of constant productivity, digital fatigue and instant gratification. I can support your journey by providing space, a time to pause, reflect on the past and to re-evaluate the direction your life is heading. As well as weekly therapeutic sessions for support, I also offer six weekly focused exploratory sessions.
Focused Therapeutic Explorations:
Sometimes there is a particular aspect of ourselves or our experiences that we would like the opportunity to understand more deeply.
Alongside ongoing psychotherapy, I offer a number of focused six-session therapeutic explorations. These provide a dedicated space to explore a particular area of your life and develop a greater understanding of yourself, your experiences and the influences that may have shaped you. We will explore what feels most relevant to you and your individual experiences, at a pace that feels appropriate.
Exploring Self & Identity: Explore who you are, what has shaped you and the different parts of yourself. Across six sessions, we will explore the experiences and relationships that have contributed to your developing sense of self, including the ways you may have learned to adapt in order to belong, feel accepted or meet the needs and expectations of others.
Understanding Your Neurodivergence: Explore and understand your experiences and sense of self through a neurodivergent lens. We will explore how neurodivergence may have shaped your experiences of childhood, education, relationships, work and your developing sense of self.
Cultural Identity & Belonging: Explore culture, belonging, family expectations and the different worlds that have shaped you whilst examining areas where your own values may feel in conflict with family, cultural or societal expectations.
My first session
The first session will involve more questions from me as it forms the assessment of my getting to know you and your history so I can gain a fuller picture of you. You will not need to write anything; I will ask questions and we will talk about your life up to this point of my meeting you.
We will also discuss your reasons for therapy and outline the goals you wish to achieve.
