About me and my therapy practice

I am a Â鶹ԭ´´ Accredited Psychotherapist, with over 16 years of experience in mental health, working with both young people and adults. I offer a secure, nurturing space, in which together, we can explore your thoughts and feelings, conscious and not so conscious processes, relationships, fears, dreams, hopes, and much more besides.

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons—whether it’s facing uncertainty, or anxiety, navigating life transitions, or seeking deeper self-understanding. Therapy can be an opportunity for you to experience and express your emotions, and, if you so desire, to learn strategies for emotional regulation. It can offer an opportunity to be seen, and heard, to work out what is holding you back in life, and to develop the tools for navigating your path with greater resilience.

I believe that within you lies the wisdom and strength needed to overcome the challenges you face; sometimes, we simply need a space to find our own answers within ourselves. A supportive relationship can help in bringing about such clarity; we are, after all, deeply relational beings, and our mental and emotional well-being is inescapably influenced by the contexts and people around us.

Our earliest relationships are particularly significant. Difficulties in relationships with family, friends, or partners can have a long-lasting impact on our emotional health, and therapy can be a powerful tool for addressing these foundational patterns, and exploring the ways in which relationships with others help you, and empower you, or hinder you, and disempower you. An important part of therapy can be setting ourselves free from relational patterns we may have needed to survive in childhood, but which may have become self-defeating, in adulthood. This can involve a focus not only on our relationships with others, but also on our relationships with self-limiting and repressed parts of ourselves, including self-critical, self-shaming, protective, creative, playful, and joyful parts.

What to Expect

Our journey begins with an initial phone consultation. During this call, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions and share what has brought you to therapy, whether for yourself or for someone you care about. Afterwards, we’ll schedule our first session. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and typically take place weekly at the same time, either face-to-face or online, depending on your preference.

Work with Adolescents and Parents

In addition to my work with adults, I have over 15 years of experience supporting adolescents, aged 11–18, and their families. Adolescence is a time of profound changes, marked by oftentimes dramatic emotional and social shifts. Young people and parents can face unique challenges during this stage, often compounded by academic pressures, and the sense of an uncertain future. Engaging in therapy during this time can be valuable, commonly providing young people with tools to understand themselves more clearly, and navigate life's challenges more effectively. The insights gained in therapy can lay a foundation for emotional well-being that lasts into adulthood. In my work with young people I might use objects and creative resources to aid self expression and externalisation of internal processes.Additional Areas of Specialization

I currently work in a well-known boarding school with the pupils there, and I have a keen interest in working with clients who may have gone to boarding school.

I am very interested in the complex systems we find ourselves in and the controlling relational dynamics that might be present in families. Extending my expertise into the dynamics present in coercive relationships is of specific interest to me, where children and young people are also affected by these patterns, that often occur inter-generationally.

I also presently work in clinical trials and research into psychedelic medicines in the UK as a Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapist.
