About me and my therapy practice

I’m a Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited Integrative Therapist offering a compassionate space where we can work together to navigate life's challenges and develop wellbeing. Our collaborative work may focus on:

  • Understanding and managing difficult emotions
  • Exploring relationship patterns and communication
  • Developing self-compassion and resilience
  • Processing and healing from past experiences

I bring particular experience working with shame, anxiety, neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism), chronic conditions like fibromyalgia and LGBTQ+ experiences.

Areas of Focus

Anxiety – We can explore the origins of your anxiety, understand its function in your life and develop personalised strategies to reduce its impact on your daily experiences.

Depression – I provide a space to understand the underlying factors contributing to depression whilst collaboratively building pathways toward healing, self-compassion and renewed possibility

Trauma – Within a safe and supportive environment, we can process difficult emotions at your pace, develop resilience and gradually work toward a sense of integration and wellbeing.

Relationship Challenges – Whether navigating conflict, communication difficulties, or seeking to understand relationship patterns, our work together can offer insights and practical approaches to connection.

Shame and Internalised Narratives - We can  explore the roots of your shame, understanding how it developed and the protective mechanisms you've created. Our work will focus on developing self-compassion, challenging internalised negative beliefs, and gradually creating a more nurturing internal dialogue. We'll work to transform shame from a source of pain into an opportunity for profound self-understanding and healing.

Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) – I provide affirming, inclusive support that honours your unique identity and lived experiences. My practice is welcoming to LGBTQ+ individuals, those exploring ethical non-monogamy and people in alternative relationship structures.

Practice description

As a fully qualified and registered Integrative Counsellor with over a decade of experience, I've had the privilege of supporting individuals through various life challenges and transitions. My practice is built on a foundation of compassion, curiosity and collaboration.

My Therapeutic Philosophy

Therapy adapts to your unique needs. I provide a safe, open space to examine your thoughts and feelings. Together, we'll uncover patterns driving your struggles, forging paths to wellbeing. A crucial aspect is learning to accept uncomfortable emotions, rather than avoiding them. Many expend energy suppressing feelings, leading to burnout. Therapy fosters acceptance, recognizing difficult emotions as human, and building healthier coping strategies.

My therapeutic approach integrates several evidence-based modalities:

Person-centred Counselling: Building a genuine therapeutic relationship based on empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence to facilitate self-awareness and personal growth.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Exploring the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to identify and transform unhelpful patterns.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Understanding how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence present challenges and relationships.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT): DBT focuses on emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and mindfulness - enabling you to move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered.

Brief Solution-Focused Therapy: A strengths-based, goal-oriented approach that draws upon your internal resources to achieve meaningful change.

Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD): Providing identity-affirming support that addresses minority stress and fosters self-acceptance.

My first session

Before our first therapy session, I will send you some forms to help you think about your goals and hopes for therapy.

When we meet, I'll give you some general information about therapy and confidentiality, then we'll talk about how we can work together.

I will ask you about yourself and your life story as it relates to your therapy goals or information you think may be relevant.

After our first session, I'll send you some helpful links and resources to get you started on your journey.

How I Can Support You

Cultivating a Supervisor/Supervisee Relationship – Supervision is a collaborative process built on trust. My role is to offer an open, non-judgmental space where you can bring your client work, your successes and your struggles. We’ll work together to foster a relationship that allows for meaningful reflection and professional development.

Neurodiversity (ADHD/Autism) – If you are working with neurodivergent clients, I can offer an affirming lens and guidance to help you navigate this work effectively. We can explore specific interventions, discuss best practices and help you feel more confident in supporting neurodivergent individuals.

LGBTQ+ & GSRD (Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity) Affirming Practice – I can support you in creating a truly inclusive practice. We can discuss the unique challenges and considerations when working with LGBTQ+ people and those exploring polyamory or ethical non-monogamy, ensuring your work is always affirming and respectful.

Shame, Self-Criticism, and Imposter Syndrome – These feelings can be common for therapists. We can explore what might be contributing to these feelings and find ways to cultivate self-compassion, helping you feel more grounded and confident in your professional identity.

Navigating Ethical Dilemmas & Clinical Challenges – Supervision provides a safe space to discuss challenging cases, ethical questions, or when you feel stuck with a client. I can help you explore different perspectives, identify potential blind spots, and find a clear path forward.

Building Your Resilience – The nature of our work can be emotionally demanding. We can focus on self-care and developing strategies to prevent burnout and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
