About me and my therapy practice
About Me
I am Wendy and I am an integrative therapist with over 20 years鈥 experience working across a wide range of settings and supporting clients with diverse life challenges.
My priority is to create a safe, secure, and private space where you can begin to relax and explore your thoughts and feelings openly. Therapy with me is grounded in warmth, respect, and genuine care. You will not be judged. Instead, you will be met with understanding, compassion, and professionalism.
I see my role as walking alongside you during difficult times 鈥 offering guidance, insight, and steady support as you navigate your journey.

How I Work
As an integrative therapist, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I work primarily from a person-centred foundation, ensuring that you feel heard, valued, and respected. Alongside this, I may incorporate more practical tools and structured methods where helpful.
I particularly enjoy working from a Transactional Analysis (TA) perspective, which can be especially effective in understanding behaviour patterns, communication styles, and relationship dynamics 鈥 whether these challenges arise in your personal or professional life.
I specialise in working with relationship issues along with abuse and controlling relationships. I work with Anxiety and depression, and Loss and bereavement to name a few
My focus is on supporting clients to rebuild confidence, strengthen boundaries, increase communication, increase own self awareness and behaviours to facilitate clients to have a sense of personal control and empowerment.
From our work together, you can expect:
鈥 A calm, grounded, and confidential space
鈥 No judgement, pressure, or assumptions
鈥 A therapist who listens deeply and responds with honesty and compassion
鈥 Space to explore whatever feels important 鈥 past, present, or uncertain
鈥 Support that honours your autonomy and lived experience
You set the agenda. We move at your pace. We can explore as much or as little as feels right for you.
My first session
Your first session is about helping you feel comfortable and to put you at ease.
We will begin by completing your details and going through a clear working agreement, so you feel safe and informed about confidentiality and how we will work together. I may ask a few gentle questions about how you are feeling in the here and now, which can help us measure your progress over time.
I offer review sessions every six sessions, giving you the opportunity to reflect on the progress you鈥檝e made and recognise the distance you鈥檝e travelled in your personal journey.

Clinical Supervision
I am an experienced Counsellor of 20 years, a Counselling Lecturer of 11 years, and a Clinical Supervisor of 11 years. I work with both qualified counsellors and trainee counsellors, offering supervision that is supportive, developmental, and ethically grounded.
Alongside my clinical work, I have taught counselling from Level 2 through to Level 4 Diploma and previously worked as an External Quality Assurer (EQA) with Skills Education Group (formerly ABC Awards). This breadth of experience allows me to support trainees not only with their client work, but also with course requirements, including Unit 7 and portfolio development.
I offer flexible supervision hours and can also provide clinical supervision for counsellors working with children and young people.
About me and my therapy practice
I work with Shohet and Hawkins 7 eyed model of supervision My Supervision Approach
I work using the Shohet and Hawkins 7-Eyed Model of Supervision, exploring all aspects of the therapeutic process 鈥 the client, the counsellor, the relationship, and the wider systemic context. This holistic approach allows for deep reflection, ethical awareness, and professional growth.
My aim is to create a safe, non-judgemental space where you can develop, learn, and grow in confidence within your practice. I work openly, transparently, and honestly, without criticism or shame. We have all been trainees once 鈥 supervision is a place to learn, not to fear mistakes.
I often say there is no such thing as 鈥渇ail鈥 鈥 only First Attempt In Learning.
I see supervision as both a supportive and appropriately challenging space. When we feel a little uncomfortable, that is often where the richest learning takes place. I will challenge you respectfully and thoughtfully, always with your development and your clients鈥 wellbeing at the centre.
As a supervisor, I hold the ethical responsibility of gatekeeping safe practice to protect both client and counsellor. I do this with care, clarity, and respect, ensuring you feel supported rather than judged.

Supporting Counsellors and Trainee Counsellors
I particularly enjoy working with trainee counsellors. My background as a lecturer and former EQA allows me to draw on a wide range of knowledge to support your academic development alongside your clinical work. I understand the pressures of training, placements, assignments, and self-doubt 鈥 and I am passionate about helping trainees grow into confident, reflective practitioners.
At the same time, I value working with qualified counsellors and supporting continued professional development at every stage of practice. I enjoy the engaged deep exploration of reflection on casework. Also to continue to develop and share knowledge.
My overall aim is to help you grow both personally and professionally, enabling you to become the best practitioner you can be.
My first session
First Supervision Session
In our first session, I like to explore your current knowledge, thoughts, and feelings around working with suicide and suicidal ideation. This is not to test you, but to understand your experience and ensure you feel equipped and confident should this arise in your client work.
Addressing this early in supervision helps reduce fear and panic, particularly for trainees, and provides you with practical tools and clarity around risk assessment and safe practice.
I also bring extensive knowledge from my involvement in setting up and implementing Mental Health First Aid within St John Ambulance in 2017, launching it nationally in collaboration with MHFA England. I qualified as an MHFA Instructor for both Adults and Youth, and I find there is valuable crossover between this training and supervision work 鈥 particularly around risk, safeguarding, and confidence in managing complex presentations.

What You Can Expect
鈥 A warm, grounded, and confidential supervision space
鈥 Honest, open, and transparent dialogue
鈥 Constructive and respectful challenge
鈥 Ethical guidance and gatekeeping with care
鈥 Support with academic and qualification requirements (for trainees)
鈥 Space to reflect deeply on both client work and your own process
Above all, I aim to ensure you feel at ease from the very beginning. Supervision should be a place where you can think clearly, reflect safely, and continue evolving as a practitioner.
Whether you are just beginning your training or are an experienced counsellor seeking reflective space, I would be pleased to support you in your professional journey.
