About me and my therapy practice
Are you in need of help? Someone you can talk openly to about your difficulties, someone who is empathic, experienced, non judgemental, knowledgeable.
Could you benefit from a safe confidential place to work through how you are feeling, thinking and behaving ?
I have been a practising counsellor in Bath for 30 years. I am an Accredited Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) since 2001. I am committed to providing Counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
As a counsellor and therapist I work with both individuals and couples and other combinations of family members. I work in an interactive and collaborative manner which helps develop trust. I usually use a Person Centred Approach and also a Solution Focused Approach when appropriate and thirdly I find exploring how the past has affected the present can be very beneficial. This includes making sense of thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the present and discovering where the roots of these originated and finding ways to release the past to be freer to live in the present. As Louise L Hay says 'The Power Is In the Present Moment'
I have experience of the Psychosynthesis approach to therapy as well as other humanistic approaches such as Transactional Analysis, Family Constellations, Mindfulness and Non Violent Communication.
I have also found the work of Connirae Andreas (eg Core Transformation) helpful in working with parts of ourselves that we often don't like or find unhelpful.
Practice description
I work from my ground floor counselling room which is in a building to the side of my house. I offer one hour sessions and I will give you a guide to counselling at our first meeting.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for you to experience how I work and at the end we can discuss if we think it would be beneficial to continue meeting for say another five sessions and to then review. I value what your needs are and so we will mutually agree the period of time we work based on your needs.
