About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults (18+) Individuals & Couples in-person (F2F) at my Portsmouth practice & Online via Zoom. The Therapies I offer are Humanistic in their approach and include Internal Family Systems (IFS) &  Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I find these modalities integrate well.

I provide a warm, professional and confidential space where you can talk openly about the issues which are bringing you into counselling.

I qualified as a BA (hons) Humanistic counsellor in 2006. I have much experience working with issues including anxiety, anger, stress, trauma, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and addictions.

I am also Co-founder and Partner of Portsmouth Therapy Partnership http://portsmouth-therapy.co.uk/

As a Counsellor & as a human being on my own personal journey I am aware that we all experience challenges and difficulties in our lives.

Clients choose to see me because they want to find a way through their their issues in a safe and confidential environment so that they can make new choices & learn new skills.

I work within the Humanistic model of counselling which centres on valuing & appreciating you as a person.

I have a particular interest, training and supervision in IFS (Internal Family Systems) to Level 2.

IFS therapy proposes that the mind is composed of various "parts", forming an inner "family" that can conflict with one another and a core, compassionate "Self".

IFS aims to foster harmony by helping individuals understand and integrate these parts—by accessing their core Self, from a place of curiosity and compassion. 

I also have a breadth of training in ACT - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

ACT helps you to get in contact with the Present Moment by being psychologically present 

Gives you skills to step back from unhelpful thoughts, dropping the struggle with them, or being overwhelmed by them.

ACT means taking ACTion guided by values – by doing what matters to live a richer & more meaningful life.
