About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Debbie. I am a fully qualified counsellor with over 15 years’ experience with both adults and adolescents. My training is at postgraduate level in integrative counselling. This means I can bring more flexibility to my work, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches that best suits your needs. I have been employed as a Lead Clinician both in general and issue-specific roles since qualifying.  As well as employment I have a private practice that runs three days a week.

I am qualified to work with both adults and adolescents.  I have also had experience as a tutor; training qualified counsellors to work with families and young people.  I would like to think my years of experience provides you with a safe pair of hands.

I offer short term and long term therapy depending on your requirements this can be delivered face to face or on Teams whichever is you feel best suited to.

We work together to help you move in a direction of where you would like to be.

I am a registered and accredited member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ and work with the Â鶹ԭ´´'s ethical framework.  This means my practice is with your best interests and needs at the core of all our sessions together.

I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Practice description

I provide a warm, empathic, friendly and non-judgemental environment where you can talk in complete confidence.

We all have the ability to grow and heal with an inner understanding to know what is best for ourselves. At times, this feels impossible; we can feel stuck and lost. Life can feel complicated and it feels like we cannot see a way forward.

Your time in counselling creates space to make sense of your life and events that may have shaped you and been influential on how you now see yourself. In counselling we work towards positive changes in our lives. Increasing self-esteem, self-worth, improving our relationships, becoming happier and feeling more optimistic about life.

It is up to you what you choose to bring and work with. I can offer help with a variety of presenting issues as listed below.

My first session

It's important that you find a counsellor you feel connected and comfortable with.  Someone you feel you can trust and who puts you completely at ease.

I offer a 20 minute free phone consultation. We can chat about what brings you to seek a counsellor and how we might work together.

Our first full session often involves gathering a  little more information from you so I have a clear idea of you needs, goals and expectations.  We always work at your pace and with what you feel comfortable to bring.
