About me and my therapy practice
Taking the first step toward counselling can feel daunting, especially with so many therapists to choose from. You may be wondering how to find someone who will really listen, understand, and support you. My aim is to make this process feel less overwhelming and more reassuring. Having been a client myself, I know the importance of feeling safe, respected, and genuinely heard—whether you are seeking therapy as an individual or as a couple.
I offer a warm, welcoming space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without expectation, judgment, or pressure.
For over a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to support individuals and couples through many of life’s challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, stress, low self-confidence, and major life transitions. I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery and healing, and I am committed to walking alongside you each step of the way. My intention is to help you uncover new insights, develop supportive ways of coping, and move toward greater clarity, peace, and confidence in yourself and your relationships.
I also have experience working with people who are neurodivergent or who live with learning differences and mental health challenges, including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. I aim to create a supportive, adaptable space where you can feel accepted as you are, while exploring strategies that honour your unique needs, abilities, and goals.
When working with couples, I provide a compassionate environment to work through challenges such as communication difficulties, trust concerns, or emotional distance—supporting you in reconnecting and strengthening your bond. For some, therapy also offers a kind and respectful way of parting. I am here to hold space for that tender process too, with care and understanding.
If you feel ready to take the next step, I would be honoured to support you. Please reach out at counsellingwithkirsti@gmail.com
or 07422 504578.
I look forward to walking this journey with you.

Couples Counselling
As an experienced couples counsellor, I specialise in supporting couples to navigate challenges in their relationship and to foster deeper connection, clearer communication, and greater understanding. One of the approaches I use is Imago therapy, which offers a new way of communicating that helps partners look beneath the surface and begin to understand what may be happening when conflict or ruptures arise.
Through this process, couples gain insight into the unconscious patterns that shape their interactions. With awareness, they can move beyond these cycles of conflict, creating space for stronger, more compassionate, and more resilient bonds to grow.
In our sessions, I will gently guide you and your partner through guided dialogues that encourage empathy, active listening, and mutual respect. Whether you’re facing recurring arguments, trust issues, or feelings of emotional distance, couples counselling can provide the tools to reconnect, rebuild trust, and nurture a more fulfilling relationship.
If you would like to arrange an initial session, this can be a helpful way to meet me, experience how I work, and see whether I feel like the right fit for you as a relationship therapist. Please feel free to get in touch at counsellingwithkirsti@gmail.com or 07422 504578, so we can begin the journey toward a more harmonious and connected relationship.
I would be honoured to support you both in creating lasting, meaningful change in your relationship.
My first session
What to Expect in Our First Session
I understand that taking the first step toward counselling can feel daunting, and my intention is to make this process as gentle and reassuring as possible for you. Finding the right counsellor for you is an important part of this journey, and the first session is a chance to see if you feel comfortable and supported in talking with me.
Once you’ve reached out, we’ll arrange a time to meet for an initial session, either online or in person.
This first meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You’ll be able to share in more detail what has brought you to counselling and what you’re hoping for, while also getting a sense of how I work. For individuals, the initial session lasts 30 minutes, and for couples, 50 minutes.
There is no obligation to continue after this session—the choice is completely yours. I believe it’s essential that you feel comfortable and empowered in whichever direction you decide to take.
If you do choose to continue, we’ll agree on a regular day and time for your sessions. As we move forward, we’ll take time to reflect on how the sessions feel and gently refocus them to support you as you work through what matters most.
I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I look forward to the possibility of walking alongside you as you move toward greater clarity, healing, and growth.

About me and my therapy practice
As a therapeutic supervisor, I believe supervision plays a vital role in your professional growth, offering a dedicated space for reflection, support, and development. My goal is to create a collaborative, safe environment where you can openly explore both your successes and the challenges you face in your practice. Together, we will work to enhance your clinical skills, deepen your understanding, and encourage your personal growth as a therapist.
I take a person-centered approach to supervision, ensuring that you feel heard, supported, and guided in your journey. My focus is on building a strong working alliance, one that provides both stability and consistency, while fostering a space where you can openly examine your work with clients and your ongoing development as a therapist.
I work in line with the Â鶹Դ´ Ethical Framework, incorporating these standards into our supervisory sessions to ensure the highest professional practices are maintained. This provides you with the assurance that you are receiving supervision that aligns with best practice, promoting both your professional competence and your clients' well-being.
Recognizing the uniqueness of each therapist, I respect and support your individual style and approach while also ensuring that our work together maintains the necessary professional boundaries. I value the diversity of approaches within the therapeutic field and aim to tailor our sessions to reflect your personal strengths and challenges.
With a Level 6 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Supervision, I have been fortunate to learn from experts like Robin Shohet, whose work in supervision has greatly influenced my practice. Over the years, I have benefited from my own supervision, understanding firsthand how essential it is for personal and professional development. Through supervision, I aim to offer a space for you to grow and thrive, both as a practitioner and as an individual.
My first session
I offer an initial supervision session lasting 45 minutes, providing you with the opportunity to meet me and get a sense of how I work. All initial sessions are held online, primarily due to the shorter duration of the session and the flexibility that online sessions offer. Since the pandemic, I’ve found that online sessions provide convenience and allow for greater flexibility, though we can discuss your preference for in-person to online sessions during our meeting. I offer in person session from my practice room in Cheltenham.
The cost for the initial supervision session is £35
