About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Amita - a qualified Psychotherapist. I work with individuals and couples navigating the pressures of modern life.
About you
You might be feeling anxious, low in mood, or stuck in your own head, while still showing up and getting on with life. Perhaps you’re navigating work pressure, relationships, or the everyday challenges that come with millennial life and culture as a individual or within a couple and feeling overwhelmed underneath it all.
If this is you, therapy can be a space to pause and reflect on what’s really going on. A moment of questioning what’s working, what isn’t, and wanting to understand yourself and your life a little better.
Many of the clients I work with are used to holding things together, while feeling caught in the loops.
Therapy becomes a space to unpack what’s been building up and understand patterns of behaviour, past or present.
You feel anxious, low, or not quite yourself.
Your mind feels busy, with racing thoughts that are hard to switch off.
You’re tired of overthinking, feeling stressed and wondering why things don’t feel better yet.
You are navigating work, relationships or life changes and feel overwhelmed with everyday demands.
If this sounds familiar, it may be that some of the ways you’ve learned to cope no longer work for you in the same way. In therapy, we gently explore and challenge these, untangle what’s going on underneath, and build things you can actually use in everyday life.
The aim of therapy is to help things make more sense, support self-development and growth, and help you move forward feeling more like yourself again.
Practice description
What we will focus on
Understanding what’s driving your anxiety, overthinking or low mood.
Learning how to quiet racing thoughts and stop second guessing yourself.
Making sense of what keeps pulling you back into the same place.
Building confidence in your decisions.
Navigating career pressure, relationships and life transitions.
Finding more direction about who you are and what you want moving forward.
Developing practical ways to handle everyday life and its challenges.
We will be working with both your challenges and your goals.
My approach
There is not one set way I work. I use different approaches depending on what you need and what feels most helpful for you.
My work is influenced by person centred, psychodynamic and existential approaches. I also use CBT and ACT for anxiety and overthinking. This helps us explore what really matters to you, while also understanding how past experiences may still be shaping the present.
Alongside reflection and exploration, I’ll also help you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, so things feel clearer and more manageable.
Therapy with me is collaborative. I’m actively involved in our work together, offering reflection, insight and practical ways of working, within a space that feels comfortable, easy to talk in, and allows you to be yourself, even when things feel messy or unclear.
You’ll always leave sessions with something useful to take into your week.
