About me and my therapy practice

You may be wondering if anyone can understand you. You may be feeling alone, unheard and misunderstood. Perhaps there are times when you feel low or anxious, overwhelmed by the demands on you. It may be that your relationships feel difficult or unsatisfying, stuck in unhelpful patterns that you don't know how to change. You want to be clear about your goals and how you can achieve them resulting in living in a more fulfilling way. Perhaps you want to improve communication with those around you. You want to live the life you desire with a sense of purpose. Maybe the time has come to take positive action and seek professional support where you feel accepted and valued.

I will listen carefully to your experiences and help you identify areas of difficulties and generate workable solutions that respect your values and beliefs within a safe space. This can support you in recognising and meeting your needs, feel calmer, more valued and in better control of your life. I offer short term goal oriented counselling and longer term work according to your need and wish. The work is tailored to each individual and reviewed together on a regular basis. I may use resources or psychoeducation to underpin the work when appropriate, however my approach is one of creating a safe and nurturing working relationship where you are able to explore any areas of concern or distress in a properly supported way.

I have 25 years of experience of working with adults and young people from 16 years old, from a range of backgrounds, including folks who are neurodiverse, folks from the LGBTQIA community and those with English as their second language.

Practice description

I work both online via zoom or in person in my quiet garden office. After the initial session, we will decide together if we will take a short term, goal orientated approach or use a longer term, open ended way of working together, allowing this to develop at a pace that suits you. In any case, the work is reviewed after 4 - 6 sessions and regularly after that.

My first session

I believe it is important for you to find the right therapist for you as an individual and encourage you to 'shop around' therefore I offer an initial free 30 minute appointment which allows us to meet and decide if we wish to proceed. It also gives you the chance to ask me any questions about my work or experience.
