About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Crookes Counselling.

Hello, I’m Debbie.

Everyone has a story to tell; I am here to listen to yours.

You can expect a space that is warm, safe and welcoming alongside a relationship that has, at its heart, a respect for you and a willingness to listen and validate your experiences in a non-judgemental way. My aim is to support you in understanding yourself and your experiences, enabling you to make choices and decisions that create a way forward.

The space I offer has no fixed agenda; I will be guided by you as to the issues you would like to explore. I see us making connections between your present and past experiences that can be helpful in understanding how you experience yourself in your current circumstance. Similar to drawing a dot to dot, the picture that emerges can open new perspectives and understandings, with  choices and decisions for the future becoming clearer.

A quiet, calm personality, I see being heard, truly being seen and validated for being who we are is paramount to growth and development for myself and any individual.

Since moving to Sheffield eight years ago, I have built a successful private practice at The Practice Rooms in Broomhill. These rooms, located in a period property, provide a calm and safe environment for my work. For more details, visit http:/www.thepracticerooms.co.uk

I have a broad experience working with a variety of issues and situations which include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and bereavement. This is not an exhaustive list, merely an example of the issues that clients have sought my help with.

‘No problem or difficulty is too small - if it’s important to you then its important to me’

Accessing counselling can feel a daunting prospect, if you would like to know more about me and my approach do visit my website at www.crookescounselling.co.uk.

Alternatively, you can phone or email me and I will endeavor to answer your questions or concerns.

Practice description

I am qualified In Person Centered Counselling.

As part of my personal and professional development I have undergone a variety of workshops and training modules throughout the years in various other models of counselling.

My first session

Our first session will be an hour in length.  I will begin the session ensuring that the boundaries of confidentiality, records I keep and what you can expect are clear (these will have been sent via email to you prior to the session).  This will take a few minutes.  After this, the time is yours.

There is no pressure to talk about anything that feels uncomfortable or difficult.  I do not fix an agenda; I will always be guided by you as to what you would like to share.

At the end of the first session, you can then decide whether you would like to arrange further sessions.

I also offer an initial 30-minute session for you to explore whether counselling is right for you.
