About me and my therapy practice

About Me

My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own time in counselling. Through that process, I came to recognise, understand, and accept the grief and trauma in my own life. It was a powerful, sometimes painful experience but it changed me in ways I never thought possible. Having a safe space to be heard without judgement was life-changing, and it inspired me to train as a therapist so I could offer that same opportunity to others. Fifteen years later, I remain passionate about supporting people to find greater self-understanding, acceptance, and freedom in their own lives.

How I Work

I am a qualified practitioner specialising in Person-Centred Counselling, with additional training in CBT and trauma-informed approaches. I work integratively, because therapy is never 鈥渙ne size fits all.鈥

Each session lasts 50 minutes and I always allow time between appointments to pause, reflect, and ensure that I can be fully present for each client.

Sessions are offered on a weekly basis, providing consistency and continuity for clients in their therapeutic process.

Practice description

Taking the First Step

I know how much courage it can take to begin counselling. Many people reach out when they feel lost, lonely, or isolated; when depression or anxiety has become overwhelming; or when something painful has happened that leaves them questioning themselves, their relationships, or even the world around them. It might feel as though the ground has shifted beneath you, or that the way you鈥檝e always understood yourself no longer fits. Making that first contact is a brave and hopeful step and I want to acknowledge that. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to face it alone.

I don鈥檛 see myself as the expert on your life, you are. My role is not to tell you what you should do, but to walk alongside you with empathy and understanding. Together, we can explore what feels important, at your pace, whether that鈥檚 grief, trauma, or lived experiences that continue to affect you and begin to recognise the self-limiting beliefs or conditioned behaviours that may be holding you back. Therapy can create space to look at things differently, to understand yourself with greater compassion, and to challenge the patterns that no longer serve you. In doing so, you can discover new ways of coping, relating, and begin to reconnect with your own strength and move towards a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

What You Can Expect:

Counselling with me offers a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard and supported. Therapy can be short-term or longer-term, sometimes it helps for a reason, sometimes for a season, and sometimes for a lifetime. However you choose to use it, my aim is always the same: to help you connect with the best version of yourself and move forward with greater clarity, acceptance, and hope.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially when you鈥檙e not quite sure what to expect. My aim is to offer a calm, welcoming environment where you can begin at your own pace, without pressure or expectation. In our first session, I鈥檒l gently invite you to share what has brought you to therapy and what you might hope to gain, while also taking a little time to explain how I work, including things like confidentiality, boundaries, and how we can keep our work together safe and supportive.

My approach is primarily person-centred, so I don鈥檛 usually use formal assessments. However, where it feels helpful, I may gently integrate some CBT-informed tools, always with your agreement and comfort at the centre of the process.

Towards the end of the session, we鈥檒l take a moment to reflect on how it has felt for you, and whether continuing together feels like the right fit. There is absolutely no pressure to continue, what matters most is that you find a therapist you feel safe and comfortable with. If I鈥檓 not the right person for you, I鈥檓 always happy to suggest trusted colleagues.

If you鈥檇 like a more detailed, step-by-step overview of what your first session might look like, including how I welcome you into the space, you can find this on my website.
