About me and my therapy practice

I have many years' experience,  working with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, health issues, grief and trauma.   I have trained as a Stress Illness Recovery Practitioner, using a holistic, evidence based approach to help people get relief from chronic pain, and other chronic symptoms such as fatigue, migraines, tinnitus.

I offer a caring, attentive, supportive space, for you to feel safe enough to explore your difficulties, to empower you to find your own way forward and identify what you need to improve your life, emotional well-being and build resilience for further life challenges.

I will be interested in your perception of life, how you have come to this view and whether you may want to change outdated beliefs, distorted perceptions or self defeating attitudes.  As you become more self aware you will gain insights to what may troubling or limiting you.  It can lead to a clearer view of the choices and possibilities open to you and develop your own ways to move forward confidently and optimistically.

I combine theory and interventions from different psychological approaches which enables me to be flexible to whatever your individual needs are, perhaps offering skills for you to work on or psycho education. I will be engaging with you, working collaboratively to explore with curiosity, your uniqueness, to enable you to understand what is underlying your difficulties.

Practice description

I work one to one with adults aged 18 and over.  I can see you face to face, via phone or remotely via Zoom . I find it helpful to speak to you on the phone or via Zoom for a free up to 15 minutes, so that I can get an idea of what you may want to use the sessions for, and for you to ask any questions.  We can then decide if we want to meet for a first session.

For chronic health issues, using the SIRPA approach, following our initial conversation, I will ask you to fill out an assessment form to help me plan what may be required, then offer 6 sessions initially, to support your understanding and utilisation of skills.

My room is located in a garden which is quiet and private.  There is easy parking on the road outside.  Each session is 50 minutes, payable per session, on the day.

You may just wish to have a few sessions, or longer for deeper exploration.  The sessions can be weekly or fortnightly, depending on what you feel is right for you.  We will review how things are going for you at intervals, to ensure you are getting what you need from our work together.

My first session

Our first session will be a full session of 50 minutes and I will be asking some specific questions, such as what would you like to be different in your life, so that we can  work towards your goals.  At the end of this session we can talk about whether I am the right person to help you, and whether you want to continue to work with me as there will be no obligation to continue.
