About me and my therapy practice

The therapy

When someone makes the decision to come to therapy, it may not have been an easy one. However, it is an important one: you have now decided you want to make a change.

What might bring a person to therapy could be interruptions to the enjoyment of the big and little moments in life: past trauma, bereavement or loss, low self-esteem, procrastination, and relationships (past/ present). There are many other reasons; there is no fixed list. Whatever it is that has made someone seek therapy, it is an acknowledgement that the issue(s) can no longer be ignored.

About me

I have worked as a counsellor for over 13 years. I provide therapy for Children (4 - 18) and Adults 19+. I am training at The Tavistock Clinic to become a family/couples.

My therapeutic work with children is based on play therapy and talking therapy. Each session is mainly led by the child or young person in whichever medium they feel comfortable with (art, sand tray, etc.) Sessions can be time-limited several planned sessions up to a maximum of 6 sessions recommended, or open-ended.

I have experience offering support to adults (and their families) who are living with neurological conditions (such as Dementia, Huntington's Disease, Alzheimer’s) and traumatic brain injuries.

I have previously worked with The Place2Be as an Assistant School Project Manager and counsellor. I have volunteered for various organisations and have volunteered as a bereavement counsellor and a therapist for a domestic intervention programme.

I am committed to my therapeutic work to support others to help build resilience, emotional well-being and good mental health. I do not give advice, but am there to explore options and give support to help make positive decisions and changes.

My personal and work experience has shown me compassion. No one’s story is the same. I believe we all need a space to be able to reflect, a space to feel accepted, understood and supported.

Practice description

How I work

I use a client-centred approach. I feel that core conditions of empathy, respect, unconditional positive regard and being non-judgmental are important base for any human relationship.

Therapy can help to open us up to face the difficulties that can be holding us back. Therapy’s not perfect, it’s not prescribed and can be challenging.

Knowing yourself is a lifetime’s work and a great challenge for everyone. Our past experiences can have an effect on our resilience in times of distress or life-changing events. This can then impact our coping mechanisms; and how we manage the relationship within ourselves and with others. During therapy, working through the challenges can help to rebuild resilience and emotional well-being.

The focus of our work together stems from what you bring to your sessions - past or present. Sessions can also be solution-focused if there is a particular area in your life that is causing concern.

Therapy cannot alter what has happened in your past, but it can help to repair your past; to help change negative thought patterns and feelings. Therapy can make a difference for you now and for your future.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer in-person or online supervision to counsellors or trainee counsellors who work with adults, children and young people.

I believe we all need a space to reflect, a space to be accepted, understood and supported. This will enable you to gain a deeper awareness of your therapeutic work with others and grow your therapeutic practice.

I have 14 years of counselling experience. I have worked with The Place2Be as an Assistant School Project Manager (ASPM), providing weekly supervision to our volunteer counsellors. I have worked as a bereavement counsellor and as a therapist working with children who have experienced and witnessed domestic violence.

I run a counselling and play therapy service in West London. I work with children and young people who live and/ or attend school in the North Kensington area. I also work with adult clients. I am a trainee family therapist with West London Action for Children (WLAC).

I am also a support worker, supporting adult clients with neurological conditions such as dementia or who have suffered from a traumatic brain injury.

I offer a free initial telephone or online consultation. The consultation is for you and me to decide if we would like to go on your supervision journey together. Please get in touch with me by email to arrange an initial consultation.

Supervision is offered in person or online (Doxy.me or Microsoft Teams).
