About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Semeyra - a Â鶹ԭ´´ accredited therapist with 14 years experience.

As an experienced therapist,  I work with  my clients to reflect,  gain insight and awareness into their difficulties, what caused them, what might be keeping them going (internally - in terms of beliefs, motivations, internalised past experiences  and externally  in terms of their relationships, environment, behaviour) and  consider any changes that might be needed to ultimately help them overcome their problems and move towards living the life they would like.

My special interests/ areas of expertise are in working long- term with individual people  who have experienced childhood/family trauma and also a wide-range of relationship problems. This includes;  attachment -related issues, family estrangement, repetitive relationship patterns, problems starting/maintaining relationships, communication issues, sexual problems, break-ups.

Alongside my 14 years' experience with individual clients, I am also now in-training to work with couples.

As well as my special interests I am also very experienced and able to work with a wide range of other issues including; low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, work or study stress, bereavement, past abusive experiences, illness, addictive behaviour,  body image difficulties,  cultural/religious identity issues.

Practice description

Once I have received your email, the next step would be to arrange an assessment appointment. I am no longer able to offer free telephone consultations before an appointment. However, I do currently have some low fee online appointments available if you can attend before 4pm on weekdays.

If we decide to continue to work together after the first appointment, I see clients once a week at the same time, for as long as we agree to work together.

Generally, the clients I work with in my private practice work with me long-term often for a year or several years depending on their presenting issues.  However, I am also very experienced in short-term work as well.

My first session

During the first session, I generally ask more questions to find out more about you, about the issues that have brought you to therapy and also to find out what you are hoping for from the work.

The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.   It is an opportunity for both of us to see if we might be able to work together.
