About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Play Therapist and Creative Arts Counsellor with over 20 years’ experience of working therapeutically with children and young people aged 4–18.

My practice is grounded in Relational Creative Play Therapy, combining a client-centred, child-led approach with the therapeutic relationship, play, creative arts and other expressive approaches. I recognise that talking is not always the easiest or most natural way for children and young people to communicate their thoughts and feelings, so therapy offers different ways to express and explore their experiences.

I have extensive experience working with children and young people who have experienced complex, developmental and relational trauma. I have particular experience supporting adopted children and young people, and those who are in or have experienced care, including children who have experienced loss, adversity, disrupted relationships and difficult early experiences.

I also incorporate Creative Therapeutic Life Story Work where appropriate, supporting children and young people to explore their personal histories, identity and experiences in a safe and sensitive way.

My approach is client-centred, relational, child-led and trauma-informed. I aim to provide a warm, accepting and consistent therapeutic relationship where children and young people feel heard, understood and valued. Therapy is adapted to each individual’s age, developmental stage, needs and way of communicating.

Sessions may include therapeutic play, art, sand, storytelling, movement, sensory experiences and talking. I work collaboratively and at the child’s pace, creating a safe space to explore emotions, relationships and experiences and develop a stronger sense of self.

Practice description

I offer Relational Creative Play Therapy in a purposefully designed therapy cabin, providing a private, welcoming and comfortable space where children and young people can feel safe, accepted and at ease.

My approach is client-centred, relational, child-led and trauma-informed. I work at each child’s pace, adapting therapy to their developmental stage, individual needs and preferred ways of communicating.

The therapy cabin is specifically equipped with a wide range of therapeutic play and creative materials. Sessions may include play, art, sand, storytelling, movement, music, sensory activities, games and talking. These different forms of expression can provide children and young people with ways to communicate thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.

My first session

An initial meeting provides an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to seek therapy, ask questions and consider whether my approach is right for your child or young person.

If we decide to work together, we agree a plan and arrange sessions, with progress and ongoing needs reviewed at appropriate points.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer Creative Clinical Supervision to trainee and qualified therapists, as well as professionals working with children and young people, including school staff and residential care teams.

I have over 15 years’ experience providing supervision and supporting practitioners to develop their confidence, reflective practice and clinical skills. My approach is relational, person-centred and creative, providing a safe and supportive space to explore practice, professional relationships and the emotional impact of the work.

Supervision may include reflection on therapeutic work, complex presentations, safeguarding, boundaries, ethical decision-making, professional development and the use of creative approaches. I also support practitioners to consider the wider relational and systemic context in which they work.

Creative methods can be incorporated where helpful, offering alternative ways to explore experiences, emotions, professional relationships and clinical material. These may include imagery, metaphor, drawing, sand and other creative media.

My approach is collaborative and reflective. I aim to create a space where supervisees can think openly about their work, develop self-awareness, consider different perspectives and strengthen their professional practice.

I have particular experience supporting practitioners working with children and young people affected by trauma, attachment difficulties, complex needs and challenging life experiences. Supervision is tailored to the supervisee’s role, experience and professional requirements.

Whether you are a trainee developing your practice, an experienced therapist seeking clinical supervision, or a professional working within education or residential care, supervision offers an opportunity to pause, reflect and develop your practice.

Practice description

Supervision provides a confidential and dedicated space to step away from the demands of practice and think carefully about the work you are undertaking. Sessions are tailored to your role, experience and professional responsibilities, whether you are developing your practice as a trainee or seeking ongoing supervision as an experienced practitioner.

I offer a thoughtful and collaborative space where you can bring cases, professional dilemmas, challenging situations, uncertainty or work that has stayed with you. We can consider what may be happening for the child, young person or family, as well as your own responses and the relationships within the work.

Supervision can support you to reflect on assessment, therapeutic interventions, safeguarding, boundaries, communication, ethical considerations and decision-making. It can also provide space to consider how organisational expectations, team dynamics and the wider context may be influencing your work.

I use creative and experiential methods when they may help deepen reflection. These can provide a different perspective when words alone do not fully capture an experience and can support exploration of feelings, professional relationships and clinical thinking.

I aim for supervision to be a place where you can be curious, ask questions, acknowledge uncertainty and explore areas of difficulty without fear of judgement. Alongside reflection, supervision supports continued professional development, confidence and safe, effective practice.

Sessions can be arranged individually or as regular ongoing supervision, depending on your professional role and requirements. We will agree the focus and frequency of supervision together and review this as your needs develop.

My first session

I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation. This provides an opportunity for us to meet, discuss what you are looking for from supervision, and consider whether my approach and experience are a good fit for your needs.

There is no obligation to continue following the initial consultation. If you decide to proceed, we can discuss the practical arrangements, including the frequency and length of supervision sessions, and agree a schedule that works for you.

The consultation is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about my supervision practice and what you can expect from ongoing sessions.
