Availability
I am currently accepting new clients.
I offer face-to-face, online and telephone counselling, as well as group therapy.
I understand that fitting counselling around work, family and other commitments can sometimes be difficult, so I offer a range of appointment options where possible.
I also offer a free 20-minute initial assessment. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for and whether we feel we are the right fit to work together.
A limited number of lower-cost counselling spaces may also be available. Please get in touch to discuss current availability, fees and appointment options.
About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I鈥檓 Toni.
I鈥檓 a trauma-informed counsellor offering confidential counselling face to face, online and by telephone, as well as group therapy. I provide a professional and compassionate space where you can talk openly, feel heard and explore what鈥檚 going on for you without judgement.
You may feel stuck, have had enough of feeling the same way, or find yourself wondering, 鈥淲hy do I keep doing the things I do?鈥 Sometimes the ways we learn to cope can make more sense when we begin to understand what may be underneath them.
I have a particular interest in how difficult experiences growing up can continue to affect us in adulthood. This might show up in how we feel about ourselves, our relationships, or through things we turn to for comfort or to cope, such as alcohol, drugs, food or other behaviours that can become difficult to change.
Together, we can explore what鈥檚 happening for you now while gently making sense of how past experiences may be influencing your present. Rather than judging or simply trying to stop a behaviour, we can begin to understand where certain patterns may have come from, what they may be doing for you and what you would like to change.
My professional experience includes charity work, private practice, addiction services, domestic abuse support, education, the NHS and prison settings, supporting people from many different backgrounds and through complex life experiences.
My work is also shaped by my own life experiences, which has given me an understanding of how difficult and overwhelming life can sometimes feel.
I believe counselling should be accessible and that financial barriers shouldn鈥檛 prevent someone from seeking support. I offer affordable options and I鈥檓 happy to discuss what鈥檚 available.
If you鈥檙e considering counselling, I offer a free initial assessment where we can talk about what鈥檚 bringing you to therapy, what you鈥檙e hoping for and whether we feel we鈥檙e the right fit to work together.
Practice description
My approach to counselling is warm, supportive and shaped around you as an individual. I don鈥檛 believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so we can work together in a way that feels right for you and at a pace you are comfortable with.
You don鈥檛 need to know exactly what you want to talk about or have everything figured out before coming to counselling. We can start with what鈥檚 happening for you now and, when it feels helpful, explore how experiences from your past may be affecting the way you feel, relate to others or cope today.
I have a particular interest in understanding what鈥檚 underneath patterns or behaviours that can be difficult to change. Rather than judging the behaviour or simply focusing on stopping it, we can explore what purpose it may have served, where it may have come from and what you might need instead.
As an Integrative Relational Counsellor, I draw on different ways of working depending on your individual needs. Our relationship is an important part of the work, and I aim to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself, talk openly and feel heard without judgement.
Counselling is available face to face, online and by telephone. I also offer group therapy.
We will regularly check in together about how counselling is feeling for you, what you are finding helpful and what you would like from our work together.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute initial assessment before beginning counselling.
This is an informal conversation where we can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you may be struggling with and what you would like to get from therapy. You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to talk about.
It also gives you the opportunity to ask me questions and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me.
The assessment works both ways. It is important that I also consider whether I am the right counsellor for you and whether I can offer the support you need. If I feel another service or type of support would be more appropriate, I will talk this through with you openly.
If we both feel that working together is a good fit, we can discuss how you would like to have your sessions 鈥 face to face, online or by telephone 鈥 along with availability, fees and what happens next.
For anyone interested in group therapy, the initial assessment also gives us an opportunity to discuss the group, what you are hoping to gain from it and whether a group setting would be suitable for you.
There is no obligation to continue with counselling following the initial assessment.
