About me and my therapy practice

My journey into counselling has been shaped by both life experience and professional training. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I tailor therapy to the individual rather than following one single approach.

I believe that having someone genuinely listen, without judgement, can be an important first step towards understanding what is happening and finding a way forward.

My work is grounded in person-centred counselling, creating a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk openly.

My aim is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you as you develop greater understanding, confidence and your own way forward.

Every person is different, and I believe therapy should reflect that.

I also have particular experience and understanding of the pressures that can arise within sport and high-performance environments, horse racing and equestrian sport, rural and farming communities, and performing arts.

You do not need to have a connection to any of these areas to work with me.

My counselling experience has included placements within a community counselling charity, a secondary school and a performing arts academy. I continue to work within a performing arts academy, supporting individuals who experience the pressures of striving towards high standards.

I see clients in my cosy Shepherd's Hut in my garden, which offers a space of calm. If client's prefer, I am also happy to work online; or I can work with a combination of both which I have found can be helpful for clients with busy lives or difficulty with transport.

Practice description

My core theory is Person Centred. However, as an integrative counsellor, I continue to develop my knowledge of different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis. Where appropriate, I may incorporate CBT-informed techniques into our work, depending on your needs and what feels helpful.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes having a safe and confidential space to talk can help you understand yourself better, make sense of what is happening in your life and explore new ways forward.

I work with adults and young people aged 16+ experiencing difficulties such as:

• Anxiety, worry and overthinking

• Stress and burnout

• Low mood and depression

• Addiction and addictive behaviours

• Bereavement, grief and loss

• Relationship difficulties

• Low self-esteem and confidence

• Trauma and difficult life experiences

• Anger and emotional overwhelm

• Life changes and transitions

• Workplace pressures

• Family relationships and attachment-related experiences

• Neurodivergence, including ADHD and dyspraxia
