Availability
I currently offer remote counselling sessions during school term time on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 10am and 3pm. Sessions are available via Microsoft Teams, Zoom or telephone. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually offered weekly, on the same day and at the same time each week, where possible.
I generally offer an initial block of 10 sessions. Towards the end of this period, the client and I will collaboratively review their progress and decide together whether further sessions would be beneficial.
For remote sessions, clients are asked to join from a quiet and private space where they will not be interrupted and where no one else is present. Clients will also need reliable internet access or a good telephone signal to minimise interruptions or dropped calls. Using headphones or earphones is recommended to support privacy and confidentiality.
My availability may vary during school holidays, and I will update this section when I am taking planned time away from practice.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering warm, confidential and non-judgemental online therapy for adults aged 18 and over.
My main approach is Person-Centred Therapy, which is a client-led way of working. I believe you are the expert in your own experience. My role is to support you, not to tell you what to do or guide you towards a particular outcome. I offer a safe, accepting and compassionate space where you can talk openly, feel heard and understood, and explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
I work collaboratively and respect your individual experiences, needs and goals. While Person-Centred Therapy is at the heart of my practice, I may also draw on CBT, expressive therapy and grounding techniques when these are appropriate and helpful for you. These approaches are used collaboratively and with your preferences in mind.
I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement and child bereavement, trauma including childhood trauma, life transitions, cultural identity and belonging, neurodiversity and emotional wellbeing. I also support people living with long-term health conditions and individuals on probation. I offer recovery-focused emotional support to people experiencing psychosis when their symptoms are stable and appropriately managed.
I hold a Master's degree in Applied Psychology and have experience working within psychiatry departments in military and government hospitals, as well as supporting an anti-drug project. I completed my counselling training at the University of Salford and receive regular clinical supervision.
I offer online sessions via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or telephone in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali and Hindi.
Practice description
What you can expect
Whatever brings you to therapy, my aim is to offer you a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.
Person-centred and client-led
My main approach is Person-Centred Therapy. I believe you are the expert in your own experience. As a counsellor and psychotherapist, my role is to support you rather than tell you what to do or guide you towards a particular outcome. We work together, with your needs, experiences and goals at the centre of the therapy.
Therapy at your pace
You do not have to share anything before you feel ready. We can take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you, allowing you the time and space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
A warm and accepting space
I aim to provide a genuine, compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you can be yourself and talk openly about whatever you are experiencing. I understand that beginning therapy can feel difficult, and I will meet you with patience, respect and understanding.
A collaborative approach
While Person-Centred Therapy is at the heart of my practice, I may also draw on CBT, expressive therapy and grounding techniques where these may be helpful. These are introduced collaboratively and only where they fit with your needs and preferences. You remain in control of what we explore and how we work together.
Confidential and ethical practice
I work in line with the Â鶹Դ´ Ethical Framework and maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and respect for your individuality and dignity. I also attend regular clinical supervision to reflect on my practice and ensure I continue to work safely and ethically.
My aim is not to change who you are, but to support you in understanding yourself, your emotions and your experiences, and to help you explore what may support your wellbeing.
My first session
Before your first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation before starting therapy. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling or psychotherapy, what you hope to get from therapy, and what you would like support with.
We can also discuss whether you have had counselling or therapy before and what your experience was like. Where relevant, I may ask about any physical or mental health diagnoses or other information that may help me understand your needs.
This consultation is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. As a Person-Centred therapist, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is important, and it is important that you feel we are a good fit.
If, after the consultation, we both feel that working together would be appropriate, I will send you an assessment form and counselling contract. The assessment form will need to be completed and returned by email. Please read the counselling contract carefully before agreeing to the terms and conditions. You can sign it electronically or print, sign and scan it back to me.
We will normally discuss a suitable day and time for your first appointment during the initial consultation. Once I have received the completed assessment form and signed counselling contract, I will confirm your first 50-minute therapy session.
I also offer discounted sessions for trainee counsellors. Please contact me for further information.
