About me and my therapy practice
Marianne Brown MSc DipCouns MÂ鶹Դ´
I am a trauma-informed psychodynamic therapist specialising in women's wellbeing. For over fifteen years I worked within refuge and domestic violence settings as an arts practitioner, an experience that shaped how I listen, and what I have come to understand about crisis, resilience, and change.
I hold an MSc in Psychosocial Studies and a BPC-approved Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. My approach attends carefully to how past experiences shape present difficulties, working at depth and at your pace, with compassion and without judgement.
I work with adults navigating a wide range of experiences including:
— Domestic violence and abuse
— Relationship difficulties
— Birth and perinatal experiences
— Grief and loss
— Life transitions — separation, motherhood, menopause, and beyond
I hold an enhanced DBS check and adhere to Â鶹Դ´ and BPC ethical guidelines in all my work. Sessions are available online and in person in London.
If any of this resonates, I would be glad to hear from you. I am now taking bookings for assessments and weekly therapy sessions starting from September 2026 onwards.
Practice description
I offer flexible ways of working together, whatever suits you best , face to face, online via Zoom, or over the telephone. Some people prefer to work through a specific issue over a shorter period, while others find it helpful to explore things more gradually, without a fixed end point in mind. Whether you're looking for short-term, focused support or an open-ended, longer-term space to work through things at your own pace, I'm happy to shape our work together around what feels right for you.
My first session
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and it's important that it feels right for you. That's why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before we book anything in. It's a chance for you to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see whether I might be the right fit with absolutely no obligation to go any further.
If it feels right after that, we'll arrange your first session together, where we'll take time to get to know each other properly, talk through what's brought you to counselling, and think about how we might work together going forward.
In your free call, you can expect to:
Tell me a little about what's going on for you
Ask any questions about how I work or what to expect
Find out about availability, fees, and session format (in-person / online / phone)
