About me and my therapy practice
Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, particularly if you've never experienced therapy before. My aim is to make that first step feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
I'm Charlotte, an integrative counsellor offering a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe, heard and genuinely understood.
I believe everyone deserves a space where they can be themselves without having to hold everything together, find the right words or worry about being judged. You don't need to arrive knowing what to say.
As an integrative counsellor, I don't believe therapy should follow a set formula. I get to know you as an individual and tailor our work to your experiences and needs. The relationship we build together is at the heart of my practice, and I believe feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can create the conditions for meaningful change.
My practice is trauma-informed, shaped by more than five years' experience supporting survivors of sexual abuse. This perspective informs my wider practice, recognising how past experiences can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world around us.
Whatever has brought you to counselling, we'll explore it together at a pace that feels right for you.
Training and qualifications
My training and experience provide the professional foundation for the warm, thoughtful and individualised approach I bring to counselling.
• First-Class BA (Hons) in Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship
• Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÂ鶹Դ´)
• Working with Survivors of Sexual Abuse (Level 3)
• Counselling Skills (NCFE Level 3)
• Counselling Skills (NCFE Level 2)
• Safeguarding Adults and Children (Level 2)
I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development, reflection and learning, ensuring my practice remains ethical, thoughtful and responsive to the people I work with.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face counselling in Solihull and online counselling for adults throughout the UK. Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, although we can discuss an arrangement that works for you.
Counselling isn't about being given advice or being told what you should do. It's a collaborative process where we can slow things down, explore what's happening for you and make sense of your experiences together.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels helpful and appropriate for you. My trauma-informed perspective also means I remain mindful of how difficult experiences can affect how we feel, think, relate and respond.
You remain in control of what you share and the pace at which we work. My role is to walk alongside you, offering a space where you can explore what matters to you with compassion and without judgement.
My first session
Before arranging your first appointment, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and see whether we feel we're the right fit to work together. There is no pressure or obligation to continue afterwards.
If you decide to go ahead, I'll send you some information to read before your first session, including my Counselling Agreement, Privacy Notice and a short Registration Form. Completing these beforehand means we can spend less time on paperwork and more time focusing on you.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what you'd like from counselling. You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. You decide what you're ready to share, and we'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You're welcome to ask questions at any point. My hope is that from our first conversation, you'll begin to get a sense of what working together might feel like and whether counselling with me feels right for you.
