About me and my therapy practice

I help people to understand themselves, so they can find a better way of coping.

Welcome to my listing.  If you've reached this page you are likely in need of some support and perhaps feeling ready to take the next step.

Whatever your reason for being here, counselling and psychotherapy can offer a safe and confidential place where you can come to address your difficulties and explore them in an impartial setting. I will meet you with curiosity, compassion and without judgement.

I work one-to-one with adults from different age groups, cultures and backgrounds, providing both short and long-term private counselling online and in person in Epsom, KT19, to help with a range of personal issues.  I have particular experience working with depression, anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, childhood trauma and its lasting impact, complex relationship issues, low self-esteem and inner criticism, bereavement and loss, separation, loneliness and life transitions.

Practice description

I am motivated by a curiosity in people and their capacity to develop, and I believe that the relationship between therapist and client can be the vehicle for change.

This belief shapes my approach that psychotherapeutic work is something we do together.  I won't give advice or tell you what to do. Instead I will listen, without judgement, and aim to be a calm, grounded presence to work alongside you, offering support and care. This helps to create a space that encourages you to openly explore whatever is on your mind, what has happened in your life, and how it impacts you today, in your patterns of thoughts, behaviours, and in your relationship with yourself and others.

I work from a relational perspective which means I will gently notice the dynamics which are happening in the here and now, within the therapeutic relationship, as a means to understanding other relationships and dynamics in your life.

The aim is to open up an alternative or new perspective, so that together we can think in a fresh way about your past, present and future. This can increase your capacity to make different choices and discover something new about yourself.

Qualifications and training

I graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) in Integrative Relational Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Â鶹ԭ´´) which is the largest professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.  I am bound by their standards and ethics, and I undertake regular professional development.

I started my training in the NHS and community charity sector, and having trained as an integrative counsellor, I hold in mind a range of psychological theories, allowing me to use an approach that best suits your individual needs to help you find your way forward.

My first session

It can feel like a big challenge to take the first steps and contact a therapist.

I offer a free initial 15-minute video call, where you can tell me a bit about why you are seeking therapy and ask questions about how I work, the therapeutic process or anything else that's important to you. This will also give you a chance to have some sense of whether I am the right therapist for you.

If we decide to work together, we will arrange a regular time to meet each week. Sessions will be 50 minutes and in our first one, I'll invite you to tell me a little bit more about yourself, and I may also ask about relevant aspects of your background, relationships or previous experiences. However, there is never any pressure to discuss anything before you feel ready.

Some people come to therapy with a specific goal and attend for a relatively short period, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore more deeply rooted patterns or experiences. We can think together about what feels most appropriate for your individual needs, and there is no obligation to commit beyond the first session.
