I recognise that everyone’s circumstances are different. Whether you prefer to meet in person, online or by telephone, I offer flexible counselling to help make therapy as accessible as possible. Face-to-face sessions are available from private practice rooms in Southchurch, Westcliff and Leigh-on-Sea, allowing you to choose the location that suits you best. My Westcliff practice room is wheelchair accessible. If you have any other accessibility needs, please get in touch, and I’ll be happy to help where I can.
About me and my therapy practice
I don't believe people need fixing.
I believe we all make sense.
The ways we cope, the patterns we fall into and even the parts of ourselves we struggle with often developed for a reason. They may once have helped us survive, protect ourselves or stay connected to the people around us. Sometimes, though, those same patterns can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed or wondering why we keep ending up in the same place.
Therapy, for me, is not about trying to turn you into someone different. It is about becoming curious about who you already are and how you came to be that person.
I work relationally, which means the relationship we build together is an important part of the therapy. I offer a warm and accepting space where you can bring whatever is happening for you, including the things that may be harder to put into words.
I am interested not only in what has happened to you, but in how your experiences may have shaped the way you see yourself, relate to other people and move through the world.
I believe meaningful change often begins not by fighting against ourselves, but by understanding and accepting ourselves more fully. When we can meet ourselves with greater compassion, there is room for something to shift.
Practice description
There is room for what feels easier to talk about, as well as the things that are more difficult to put into words.
I work particularly with people whose lives or sense of self have been changed by trauma, loss, difficult relationships or major life changes. This can include domestic and sexual abuse, sight loss and disability, bereavement, coercive or high-control environments, and relationship difficulties.
Together, we may explore what is happening now, experiences from the past, or patterns that keep showing up in your relationships. Often, the ways we cope developed for a reason. We can become curious about what those patterns once helped you manage and whether they still serve you today.
Sometimes talking alone isn't enough. Where it feels helpful, we may slow things down and notice emotions, body responses or what is happening between us. I may ask questions, offer reflections, gently challenge something or invite you to explore an experience differently.
We may also explore familiar roles and beliefs, as well as questions around identity, loss, meaning, choice and the kind of life you want to live.
My practice is trauma-informed and shaped by attachment. I am a humanistic therapist and draw on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis, adapting the work to you.
I welcome people from all backgrounds and identities and aim to offer an inclusive and accessible space where you can bring your whole self.
Most importantly, I will meet you as you are, and we can make sense of what you need now at a pace that feels right for you.

My first session
Before booking your first session, I offer a free 15-minute consultation by telephone or online. This gives us a chance to briefly talk about what has brought you to therapy, for you to ask any questions, and to get a sense of whether working together feels right.
If we decide to work together, our first full session will give us more time to explore what is happening for you and what you would like from therapy. We’ll also complete an initial assessment together, which helps me build a fuller picture of your experiences, circumstances and what you may need from therapy.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly where to begin. We can start with whatever feels most important and take things from there.
The first session is charged at my usual session fee.
