About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm a warm and compassionate Integrative therapist who offers a non-judgemental, kind space where you can share what is on your mind, and truly feel listened to and understood. Having a safe and supportive place to explore your feelings, and make sense of what you need in your relationships, or life in general, can be so healing- especially if your experiences have left you feeling unseen, alone, angry or misunderstood.
I am an accredited member of Â鶹Դ´, having completed a Level 6 Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy with Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. Part of my training focused on how our past relationships, society and cultural factors affect our present relationships, including how we relate to ourselves. For example, if we learn early on that other people's needs are more important than our own, we can unconsciously forget about our own needs in future relationships, leaving us feeling unfulfilled or disconnected. Therapy can be an empowering place to discover what you need from a relationship or situation, and can open up more choices around how you want to live your life.
I have accessed further training in a number of areas, some of which include: trauma-informed practice, EFT tapping, inner child work, neuro-affirming practice, sexuality, understanding addictions, sexual abuse, sand tray work and other creative approaches. I am also an assessor at a local counselling centre.
I am always guided by the client and deeply respect their autonomy and inner wisdom around what they need from therapy. Consent and contracting around what a client wishes to work on and in what way, is an integral part of my practice and maintains ethical standards.
Whatever brings you to therapy, we can take the time to understand it together, at a pace that is right for you.
Practice description
I listen with care and curiosity, to patiently understand what has brought you to therapy, tailoring sessions to match your individual needs. With a gentle and honest approach, I support you to explore your experiences and feelings in a manageable way, helping you move forward and connect with what is important to you.
I have over 20 years experience of teaching & leading in schools, and a SEN specialism, so naturally advocate for young people and their families.
I work either in-person from my therapy space in Barrow upon Soar or online via teams. It's important to me, that clients feel welcomed and comfortable, able to relax and be themselves. For in-person sessions, I like to provide water or a hot drink if this is what a client needs. Sensory preferences (e.g. where to sit, what lights to have on, what the temperature is like, what sensory objects might be helpful) are considered together too if this feels relevant.
I love to work creatively, particularly via sand tray work, collage or using visuals so please do ask me if this interests you. It can be an enlightening way to connect with deeper parts of ourselves, awakening unconscious aspects of our experience.
My first session
Finding the right therapist for you is really important-we're all so different and will need different things from a therapist. It can be useful to have an initial consultation with a few therapists, to help you decide who you feel most at ease with. Be choosy-the right one is out there!
If you’d like to arrange a free 20-minute phone/online call to briefly explore what you’re looking for from therapy and to see how we might work together, please get in touch via phone or email. For phone, it's best to text or leave me a message on the answerphone (as I don't tend to pick up unknown calls). I try my best to respond to enquiries within 48 hours.
My website also has a contact form if it feels easier to connect in this way: www.sarahnashtherapy.com
If I feel that I'm not the best person to support what you need from therapy, I will try to provide a referral to another professional who may be able to help.
I look forward to welcoming you soon.
