About me and my therapy practice
My approach is rooted in the person-centred model, which means I believe each person has the capacity for growth and healing when met with empathy, authenticity and acceptance. I work collaboratively with clients, offering a safe and supportive space where thoughts, feelings and experiences can be explored without judgement.
I work relationally and adapt my approach to the individual needs of each client. Some people come to therapy with a clear issue they wish to address, while others may feel overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected and want space to better understand themselves.
Alongside talking therapy, I may draw on creative, grounding and body awareness approaches where appropriate. My background in yoga informs my understanding of nervous system regulation and the connection between emotional and physical wellbeing. I recognise that experiences can sometimes be held in the body as well as expressed through words.
I have a particular interest in grief, loss and life transitions, including the long-term impact of childhood bereavement. I aim to work gently and compassionately, allowing clients to move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for them.
Above all, I value creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, respected and able to bring all parts of themselves into the room.
Practice description
I offer counselling in a calm, welcoming and confidential setting, either in person in Seaford, East Sussex or online. Sessions provide dedicated time and space to pause, reflect and explore whatever may be affecting your wellbeing.
People seek therapy for many different reasons, including anxiety, stress, low mood, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, burnout, low self-esteem, life transitions or feeling emotionally overwhelmed. You do not need to be in crisis to come to counselling; sometimes therapy can simply be a place to better understand yourself and your experiences.
My practice is grounded in warmth, compassion and acceptance. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if you have never spoken to someone before, and I aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable and supported.
I recognise that everyone communicates differently. Depending on the client and their needs, sessions can include creative or reflective approaches alongside conversation if this feels appropriate .
I have a background in education, movement and wellbeing, which brings an awareness of the importance of emotional safety, regulation and connection into my work. My hope is that clients leave sessions feeling more connected to themselves, with greater clarity, self-awareness and compassion.
My first session
I offer an initial, free 20 minute session, over the phone, to give us an opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling and whether we feel we can work together comfortably and effectively.
In this session I may ask some gentle assessment questions to help me understand your current circumstances and ensure that counselling with me is appropriate for your needs. This is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy, how I work and what to expect from the counselling process.
I understand that beginning therapy can feel daunting, so I aim to create a calm, welcoming and non-judgemental environment where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
In general, sessions are weekly (unless otherwise agreed) and last 50 minutes. I can offer counselling in person or online, depending on availability and suitability.
I have a small number of concessionary spaces available, please ask if you feel this would make counselling more accessible for you.
