About me and my therapy practice

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might feel that you are experiencing difficulties and that your coping strategies are no longer helping, feel stuck or unsure how to make changes in your life, or simply notice patterns in how you think, feel, or relate to others that you would like to explore and change. Therapy can offer a space to explore these difficulties, help you gain insight, support personal growth, and find a more fulfilling way forward.

Taking the first step to get in touch can feel difficult. You’re very welcome to contact me, whether you’re unsure if therapy is right for you or have a clear idea of what you’re looking for.

Hi, my name is Carmelo. I’m a Â鶹ԭ´´ integrative counsellor, working online and by telephone with clients across the UK. I offer a warm and supportive space where we can explore what’s been difficult for you at a pace that feels right.

I understand that life can feel challenging at times. Some of my own experiences, including navigating mental and physical health difficulties, are part of what led me to train as a counsellor.

Our relationships are central to our lives, whether with family, friends or colleagues. They can bring comfort, connection, and at times, distress or conflict. I believe that:

• Our relationships play an important role in a fulfilling and meaningful life.

• Where we come from shapes who we are, but does not define where we can go.

• We all need a safe space where we can express who we are without fear of judgment.

These ideas underpin my way of working and the value I place on creating a supportive, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship.

I am currently undertaking further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This enables me to bring in practical tools and techniques, alongside a relational approach, to support clients in understanding and managing their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Practice description

I see the therapeutic relationship as an important part of the work, offering a safe and supportive space for change. Together, we can explore your current difficulties and how past experiences may be influencing the present, shaping patterns of behaviour that no longer feel helpful or are difficult to change.

Some of the key areas I work with include:

Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression are common experiences that can feel overwhelming and difficult to manage. We can explore what is contributing to these feelings and work together to develop greater understanding, self-compassion and ways of coping that feel more supportive. Over time, this can help create space for change.

Relationships

They often bring connection and support, but can also lead to hurt, conflict or confusion. We can explore your relationship patterns, including how they may show up in the therapeutic relationship itself, to better understand them and consider new ways of relating that feel healthier and more fulfilling.

Self-esteem

Low self-esteem can affect how we see ourselves and the choices we make. In therapy, we can explore where these feelings may have come from and how they show up in your life today. Together, we can work towards developing a more compassionate and stable sense of self.

Anger and emotional regulation

Anger can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to express helpfully. We can explore what lies beneath these feelings and how they show up in your life and relationships. This can help you develop greater awareness, understanding, and more supportive ways of managing and expressing emotion.

Faith and spirituality

For some people, faith and spirituality are an important part of life and identity. At times, this can also bring questions, conflict, or emotional struggle. I offer a respectful and non-judgemental space where we can explore issues relating to belief, doubt, identity, or spiritual experience in a way that feels meaningful to you.

My first session

I offer an initial 30min consultation session free of charge and without any expectation of further commitment. This session will focus on us getting to know each other and discussing whether working together would be beneficial for you.

If you have any questions about the way I work or what coming to therapy might entail, please feel free to contact me.
