About me and my therapy practice
Jai Azad | Registered Counsellor (Â鶹Դ´)
Safe, Person-Centred & Humanistic Therapy
Hello, my name is Jai and I am a Â鶹Դ´-registered Counsellor.
Alongside my therapeutic practice, I bring over 30 years of experience working within the NHS as a healthcare professional. While my primary focus is now on counselling, this extensive clinical background provides me with a deep, grounded understanding of physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
I would describe my therapeutic approach as fundamentally humanistic. I believe in establishing a genuine, warm human connection with the people I work with, finding that a natural and relational style is essential—especially during the early stages of therapy when taking those first steps can feel daunting.
Practice description
I offer a safe, calm, and completely confidential space to explore a wide range of life challenges, including:
Anxiety and panic
Depression and low mood
Shame and self-criticism
Feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck in life transitions
Relationships
General pressures in managing everyday life
My work covers journeying from internal struggles to soul-level healing —helping you discover not just relief from immediate symptoms, but deeper meaning, self-acceptance, and lasting personal transformation. Together, we can aim to explore what is holding you back and help you find a clearer, more authentic way forward.
I practice in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherpy (Â鶹Դ´) Ethical Framework.

What to Expect in Our First Session
Starting therapy is a significant step, and finding the right practitioner to work alongside is essential. Because the therapeutic relationship is key to effective work, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation and assessment.
This brief, pressure-free introductory chat gives us the opportunity to:
Explore What Brings You to Counselling: We will discuss your current challenges, what you hope to achieve, and any specific goals or areas of focus you have in mind.
Assess Compatibility: This session allows both of us to gauge whether we are a good fit to work together, ensuring you feel comfortable, safe, and understood in my care.
Complete a Brief Assessment: We will cover a simple intake assessment to gather relevant background information and answer any practical questions you may have about how sessions work.
Discuss Next Steps: There is no obligation to commit. If you decide to move forward, we can arrange a regular slot for our standard 50-minute sessions (£60).
How it Works:
Initial consultations can be held over the phone or online. If you would like to book your free 30-minute chat, please reach out via the contact form or email me directly at counsellingwthjai@outlook.com
