About me and my therapy practice
Life can be challenging and it is often helpful to set aside time to look at any concerns with a suitably qualified counsellor who is independent of your situation. I can offer you a safe relationship in which to talk about your difficulties, whether there is a particular issue to explore, or a more general feeling of discomfort. This can increase your understanding of what troubles you, help you make choices, and enable you to live a more satisfying life.
I see people who may be experiencing a crisis, as well as those who simply wish to reflect on their experiences or examine how they are living.
I have particular experience in bereavement, ageing/life transitions, mental health and general illness/disability. I find that counselling is rarely restricted to one problem however, and I am open to working with the concerns that you bring, and have encountered a wide range of emotional and life issues.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from The University of Brighton. I am a member of the Â鶹Դ´ (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) with whom I have accreditation status.
As a counsellor I have worked for many years with Sussex Community Counselling (SCDA) in the low-cost counselling service as well as the specialist suicide and bereavement support services, and as their Assessor for low-cost counselling. I have previously worked with Cruse Bereavement Care.
I am experienced across subjects, with a particular inclination to issues of ageing, bereavement, times of change, ill health/disability, but I am qualified to consider whatever it is you wish to bring.
Prior to being a counsellor I worked as a mental health nurse. In addition to my counselling qualification I have a degree in English Literature and believe in the therapeutic potential of reading and writing, along with other ways of developing meaning and understanding in life.
