About me and my therapy practice

Hello and congratulations on getting here!

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel helpful. Perhaps you’re used to coping on your own and have reached a point where things feel harder to manage. You want some clarity, steadiness, and relief from constant worry or self-criticism and a space where you can talk openly without feeling judged. You may not have clear answers yet, but you’re hoping therapy can help you understand yourself better and find a kinder, more sustainable way forward. You don’t need to have the right words, we can work things out together.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and shaped by a strong belief in the value of a compassionate, collaborative therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a calm and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels manageable, without judgement or pressure.

Before training as a therapist, I worked as a teacher, and this continues to influence my work today. I have a particular interest in supporting you to develop a healthy curiosity about yourself as well as offering psychoeducation and believe that understanding how your mind and body respond to stress, anxiety, and life experiences can be empowering. Developing this awareness can help you make sense of what you are going through and support meaningful, lasting change.

Alongside my clinical work, I have a particular interest in mental health within rural communities and the ways identity, responsibility, and resilience can shape emotional wellbeing.

Practice description

Whether online or in-person, I offer a warm, professional, and confidential space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. My way of working is integrative, which means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

For some people, this may involve gently exploring past experiences and patterns. For others, it may focus more on the present, using practical strategies to help manage anxiety, stress, or low mood. Where helpful, I may incorporate CBT-based tools such as identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, developing coping strategies, or trying small, manageable changes between sessions.

Our work together will be collaborative and I will regularly check in with you about how the process feels, so we can adapt the pace and focus as needed. There is no expectation to share anything before you feel ready, and we can take time to build a sense of safety and trust.

Sessions are 60 minutes and take place either in person at The Listening Barn, online via Zoom, or by telephone. I work with adults (18+) from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

If you decide to visit The Listening Barn in person, there are opportunities for 'walk and talk' sessions outside in the beautiful rural environment.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation by phone or online. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and whether we feel like a good fit to work together.

If you decide to go ahead, our first full session will focus on getting to know you and understanding your current difficulties in more detail. We may begin to explore what has been happening in your life, what you are finding challenging, and what you would like to change.

There is no pressure to go into anything too deeply at this stage. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about how I work and what to expect from therapy.
