About me and my therapy practice

Are you looking for somewhere safe and confidential where you can explore questions about your self and your life with an experienced, qualified, professional?

Or perhaps you have undergone a difficult experience and need help to make sense of it.

I welcome enquiries from any adult looking for a space to talk, where  I can work with you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

My values and approach are holistic and anti oppressive. I am committed to: antiracism; gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD); and disability rights.

I regularly work with people exploring their Neurodiversity. As a late diagnosed Autistic and ADHD person myself, I appreciate how valuable it can be to have an informed, non judgemental place to do this. So whether you are curious about neurodiversity, recently identified or considering an assessment, I can offer a space to navigate this.

Practice description

As a Person-centred therapist, I believe that each person is the only true expert on their life and experience. My job is to help you connect with that inner expertise and to act as a knowledgeable, non-judgemental, honest companion, in that endeavour.

I will provide structure and containment, you won't be left floundering in silence, but I will always respect and follow your direction and pace.

Before qualifying as a  therapist in 2009, I was a teacher and have taught in a number of settings in the UK and overseas. I have also worked in administration and retail roles, within the NHS, local government, charities and the private sector.

My first session

In order to get a feel for our compatibility, I offer a free, no-obligation, 30 minute zoom 'discovery' call, where we can meet each other and decide if we want to begin working together.

We will then negotiate a contract/way of working that is tailored to you. Depending upon what you need/want/bring we can decide on the number of sessions and manner in which we work. I am able to work short or long term and to take the work to whatever depth suits you.

The sessions are 50 minutes long and typically at the same time each week. However to honour diverse communication and processing styles, as well as shift workers, other patterns of working can be explored.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified, experienced Supervisor and provide individual and group supervision to Counsellors, Psychotherapists and other professionals.

I set out to create a collaborative, safe space in which you can grow as a practitioner and feel supported in your work. My goal is for my supervisees to trust me with their doubts and concerns, as I believe there is so much to be learned from 'mistakes' and the things that make us uncomfortable. I ask that supervisees bring commitment and openness, which I will return in kind, together with experience, ethical solidity and acceptance.

I draw on my own experience of counselling within private practice and organisations to support a wide range of supervisees, from trainee to seasoned practitioner.

I have taught on a number of Counselling training courses, from Introduction level through to Foundation Degree. I currently facilitate Personal Development groups for Post Graduate student counsellors at a local University.

I have experience supervising neurodivergent therapists and/or those working with neurodivergent clients.

I provide supervision online over zoom for both online and 'in-person' therapists. From experience and additional training I bring an awareness of the differences in these ways of working to my supervision, with understanding of the specific issues of risk and jurisdiction connected to online therapy.

Practice description

My approach to Supervision is humanistic with a Person-centred foundation. I am also able to provide purely Person-centred Supervision to practitioners of this model.

I use a number of Supervision models, and particularly like the 7-Eyed model which I feel provides a good framework for positioning you, your clients, and your relationship, within the wider world in which we live and practice.

My values and approach are holistic and anti oppressive. I am committed to: antiracism; gender, sexuality and relationship diversity (GSRD); and disability rights.

I believe in the importance of noticing and addressing difference within therapeutic relationships.

I regularly work with Autistic, ADHD, Highly Sensitive (HSP) and other neurodiverse practitioners. I am myself a late diagnosed AuDHD therapist and my approach is neurodiversity affirming.

In addition to providing regular monthly or twice monthly supervision, I also offer Top up and consulting supervision. These sessions can be arranged on an ad hoc basis, after an initial foundation session has been undertaken.

These sessions have been used by Person-Centred Therapy trainees who are not receiving PCA supervision in their placements. And those seeking some focussed Neurodiversity affirming Supervision.

I have experience supervising individually and in groups, within organisations and privately. I am trauma informed in my practice, with experience working with homicide bereavement, complex grief and abuse.
