About me and my therapy practice

Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting, especially if you’re used to coping on your own. You might be functioning on the outside, but inside you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns that are getting you down. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone and you don’t have to carry it by yourself. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves or others. You may have an idea of what feels wrong, but feel unsure how to move forward, or whether change is possible.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can slow things down, talk openly and be fully heard by someone who isn't part of your outside world. Feeling unsure at the beginning is completely normal. Early sessions are about building trust, creating safety, and gently exploring what you’d like support with.

I feel privileged to sit alongside people through some of life's most challenging times. I believe life holds possibility, even when it doesn’t feel that way, and that being heard and understood can be the beginning of meaningful change. If you’re wondering whether therapy could help, you’re very welcome to take that first step and get in touch.

Practice description

As an integrative therapist, I benefit from the flexibility of drawing upon a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor my work to each individual. My work is primarily informed by three core modalities. Gestalt therapy focuses on present-moment awareness, supporting you in exploring your experience as a whole, including thoughts, emotions and bringing attention to the body. Psychodynamic therapy looks more deeply at how past experiences and unconscious processes may be shaping your current patterns, relationships, and responses. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) provides practical tools to recognise and challenge unhelpful thinking styles, helping to create meaningful change in how you experience yourself and the world around you.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week, though there can be flexibility to meet less frequently if appropriate. Therapy may be short-term with a focused aim, or longer-term with space to deepen your understanding of yourself, depending on your needs. We will review our work together periodically to ensure that it remains aligned with your aims.

I adhere to the Â鶹ԭ´´ Ethical Framework and engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development. My training has involved four years of formal study and I qualified in counselling with an MSc (Level 7) qualification. I have chosen to enhance my expertise through further training and am due to complete my Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy in summer 2026.

My first session

When you get in touch, I will arrange a short introductory phone call with you. This will be an opportunity for me to introduce myself and to get a sense of your reasons for getting in touch and how I might be able to support you. If you would like to book in, we will decide on a mutually convenient time for your sessions.

Our first session is an opportunity to understand what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain, and to talk about how we might work together. It is also a space for you to get a sense of how I work and whether I feel like a good fit for you. A strong therapeutic relationship is key to effective therapy, and it is important that you feel able comfortable, safe and able to speak openly.

I will aim to build a picture of your current circumstances and past experiences by asking about your background, relationships and any previous experiences of therapy. We will move at your pace and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

Towards the end of the session, we can discuss whether ongoing work together feels appropriate. If I believe another form of support or a different therapist would better meet your needs, I will discuss this with you and, where possible, signpost you to alternative services.
