About me and my therapy practice
I work primarily from a psychodynamic approach, which means we explore how past experiences and relationships might be influencing your current feelings and patterns. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely and we can gently explore what's beneath the surface of your difficulties.
While psychodynamic therapy forms the foundation of my work, I'm flexible in my approach. If practical strategies or specific tools would be helpful, I can draw from CBT techniques to support you in managing day-to-day challenges while we do the deeper work together.
I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful tool for healing. I work collaboratively with you, at your pace, and aim to help you develop greater self-understanding and find your own path forward.
Practice description
I work with children, young people, and young adults (ages 5-25), offering both short-term and long-term therapy depending on your needs. Sessions are 50 minutes, and I offer both face-to-face and online counselling.
I have experience supporting clients with:
Anxiety and depression
Loss, grief and bereavement
Trauma
Neurodiversity (autism and ADHD)
I understand that neurodivergent individuals may experience and process the world differently, and I adapt my approach to work in ways that feel comfortable and accessible to you.
Whether you're dealing with a specific issue or feeling generally stuck or overwhelmed, I'm here to help you make sense of what you're experiencing and find a way through.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and see if we're a good fit for working together. There's no pressure - it's a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether therapy with me feels right for you.
We'll talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to gain from our work together. I'll ask a few questions to better understand your situation, and you're welcome to ask me anything about how therapy works or what to expect.
For younger clients or parents booking for their child, the first session might involve meeting together initially to discuss concerns, depending on the child's age and preference.
After our first meeting, we'll discuss whether to continue working together, how often we'll meet, and whether short-term or longer-term therapy feels most appropriate for your needs. There's no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel like the right fit.
You don't need to prepare anything - just come as you are. If you have questions before we meet, feel free to get in touch.
