About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor, with a strong person-centred foundation. This means I meet you as you are, without judgement or expectation, and work at a pace that feels right for you. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the heart of change, and I focus on creating a safe, steady, and respectful connection where you can explore your experiences openly.
I don鈥檛 believe there is a single 鈥渞ight鈥 way to do therapy. Instead, I draw on different approaches to support the work in a way that fits you as an individual. This might include reflections, gentle challenge, or using creative methods to explore feelings, thoughts, or behaviours. Everything is guided by what feels helpful and relevant for you.
I am attentive to how comfortable you feel in the space and adapt my approach accordingly. Some clients prefer talking, others need more time for reflection, and some respond well to creative ways of expressing themselves. I aim to notice and respond to these preferences, helping sessions feel tailored to your needs.
I work collaboratively, encouraging you to bring your own insights, questions, and ideas into the room. Over time, this can help build confidence, deepen self-understanding, and allow you to approach challenges in ways that feel more manageable and meaningful. My goal is always to support your growth while respecting your pace and preferences.
Practice description
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it鈥檚 natural to feel unsure or apprehensive at first. You don鈥檛 need to prepare anything in advance, and there is no expectation to have all the answers or know exactly what to say. You can simply bring yourself, and we will work from there.
In sessions, you can expect a calm, confidential space where you are listened to with care, attention, and respect. We will move at a pace that feels manageable for you. Some sessions may feel conversational, while others might involve quiet reflection, pauses, or alternative ways of expressing thoughts and feelings.
When working with children and young people (ages 11 upwards), I tailor sessions to suit their age, needs, and preferred way of communicating. This may include more creative or flexible ways of working, helping them to feel comfortable and able to express themselves in a way that feels natural.
I work with people who are neurodivergent, have experienced trauma, or are navigating life transitions such as menopause or later life. In these cases, I am especially mindful of creating a supportive and adaptable environment. There is no pressure to follow a particular way of working, and we can find an approach that feels right for you.
Over time, counselling can help you feel more understood, notice patterns in your thoughts or behaviours, and explore ways of managing difficulties that feel meaningful and realistic. I aim to offer a space where all parts of your identity are welcomed and respected.
I offer weekly 60 minute sessions, which can be face-to-face, online or in your own home if you are unable to leave your home. I recognise that people's needs and circumstances vary, and I am open to discussing how sessions can work best for you, within what I am able to offer.
You are welcome to ask questions, discuss any concerns, and take time to consider whether counselling feels right for you. My goal is for each session to feel approachable, supportive, and tailored to you.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, which can be conducted online or over the telephone.
This first session is a relaxed opportunity to ask questions, share what鈥檚 on your mind, and get a sense of how we might work together. There is no obligation to continue afterwards鈥攋ust a chance to see if the sessions feel like the right fit for you.
During the consultation, you can expect to experience the same approach as regular sessions: a supportive, confidential space where you are heard and respected. We can discuss practical matters, your goals, and how sessions will work for you, including any adjustments you might need to feel comfortable.
The aim is to make the first step as accessible and reassuring as possible, so you can begin exploring your thoughts and feelings at your own pace from the comfort of your chosen space.
If you would like this initial consultation to be conducted online I can send an email link to your preferred email account. I recommend that you ensure you are in a safe confidential space, not anywhere public where you can be overheard, and that you have reliable broadband.
