About me and my therapy practice

I’m Sarah. I’m an Integrative counsellor and coach, with experience in mental health work across the NHS and the Education sector. My wide range of experience helps me understand and connect with my diverse clients. I have worked with addiction, anxiety, bereavement, bipolar, depression, EUPD, loneliness, loss, neurodivergence, OCD, (c-)PTSD, psychosis, schizophrenia, self-harm/ suicidal ideation, stress, trauma, and many more.

I also enjoy supporting people with compulsive sexual behaviours, gender identity issues, relationships, sexuality, sex/intimacy, stigma, abuse, taboos, trauma.

I work intuitively, getting to know you and your story and what you need. I care about understanding your perspective and seeing you as an individual. I will give you a space to slow down, escape from external pressures and sit with uncertainty.

I understand that mental well-being encompasses biological, psychological, physical and social factors, so I work holistically to help my clients discover their purpose, and underlying emotions. I am passionate about spirituality and alternative therapies and will bring these into the room if you are interested. I bring in knowledge of somatic/ body work and neurolinguistic programming.

Perhaps you've always felt different. Maybe you are questioning your identity, sexuality, or way of living. You may have low self-worth because of past rejection, shame or abuse. Maybe you have unhealthy coping mechanisms that you want to change.

I'm passionate about finding the part of you you've been hiding or are ashamed of, and helping you acknowledge, embrace, and heal it. I draw on different models and adapt creatively to your needs. I know how important a comfortable working relationship is in helping you be yourself and be vulnerable.

If you want to bring your whole, raw, imperfect self to therapy and feel accepted, seen and liberated, get in touch. I'm open about my life experiences to help clients feel less alone.

Practice description

I have a PostGrad Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching. My integrative approach means I draw from different models to meet your needs and personality. I include coaching when I think it may help you, but I will always discuss this with you first. I see everyone as an individual with their own identity — exploring your unique culture, race, gender, and life experience.

Starting from a person-centred, humanistic core, I combine elements of CBT skills such as thought challenging, journalling and relaxation, psychodynamic skills to explore your past, and existentialism to explore meaning. Gestalt brings in what is happening for you in the moment; Transactional analysis for relationship issues; Acceptance and commitment therapy for values and actions; CBT for practical changes and Coaching to bring in movement.

I treat your mind but also your body. I include grounding techniques, mindfulness/ meditation, diet/ nutrition, exercise and sleep hygiene and psycho-education if you find these helpful.

I take a gentle, non-directive approach, however if I feel you will benefit from being challenged, I will do so with kindness and empathy. I won't leave you in uncomfortable silence and will ensure therapy is a warm, safe, enjoyable and empowering place for you.

My practice is allied with the queer and trans+ community, and is sex/ kink positive, LGBTQIA+, sex Worker, and ENM-friendly. I'm comfortable with all aspects of BDSM and Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity.

Work can either be short-term, 6-8 sessions, or open-ended if you are looking for longer-term support. I offer online sessions and can accommodate in person.
