About me and my therapy practice
Hi. My name is Emily. I'm a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, registered with Â鶹Դ´.
Are you looking for a compassionate and empathic listening ear to share the tender or strong emotions that have been difficult to express? Have you felt misunderstood and are looking for a space to be seen and heard deeply in your experience?
Would you like to explore ways to express and embody difficult emotions so they can move through your system and feel less stuck? Perhaps you are wanting some support to understand the parts of yourself that carry anger, fear or shame?
Would you like to deepen your connection with the wisdom of your heart and body, find ways to tend to your nervous system with care and kindness so that you can feel settled in your body?
Would you like to find ways to navigate challenging experiences with a sense of agency, empowerment and wholeness?
I listen with an open heart and hold what you bring to counselling with care, non-judgement and respect.
Together, we will explore what you are holding and how this is impacting you in your life now. Whether there is something from the past, or something more recent that is feeling hard to handle on your own, the counselling process can help you to gain deeper insights about your life, yourself, and your relationships. I will guide you to find clarity on how you’d like to navigate what is happening.
Practice description
I work online from the comfort of your home.
I'm an integrative counsellor; my work is trauma-informed and rooted in a person-centred approach. I bring in body-based and somatic ways of processing emotions.
The modalities I work in are: Compassion Focused Therapy, Focusing, Emotion Focused Therapy, Therapeutic Creative Expression, Embodied Therapy, Ecosomatics and Ecotherapy.
My approach is gentle and patient, giving you the time and space you need to process your experiences while noticing and tending to your nervous system. I will be led by you, ensuring you have a choice in what you'd like to focus on in a session, and of the pace.
I welcome clients from all walks of life and have a deep understanding of issues relating to chronic health conditions, menstrual cycle challenges, trauma, relationships, highly sensitive persons (HSP) and sensory challenges.
About my journey
My own personal journey led me to becoming a counsellor. After experiencing various adversities and difficulties in my life, at different points my mental and physical health suffered. Counselling, a connection to nature and other creative embodied practices supported me to get in touch with a deep self-compassion, care towards my life, and a sense of wholeness and connection that enabled me to feel more resourced for the challenges life can bring. It felt meaningful, and inspired me to train as a counsellor myself, so I could support others through the hard moments in life from a place of deep understanding.

Ecotherapy
Are you drawn to being outdoors with the support of nature? Do you appreciate moments away from screens, listening to the rustling of trees in the wind, flowing streams or the songs of the birds? My outdoor ecotherapy / ecosomatics sessions combine talk therapy with being in nature. An opportunity to connect with the natural environment through our senses and nervous system, bringing us into our bodies, into the present and in connection with ourselves. From here we can begin to notice our kinship with nature, and the many benefits to our health and wellbeing that come from connecting with the land.
