About me and my therapy practice

My name is Will and I am a Humanistic Counsellor, I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is having a space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard and accepted for who you are.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes life feels overwhelming or difficult to navigate; sometimes we find ourselves repeating patterns we don’t understand, struggling in relationships, feeling disconnected from ourselves, or simply knowing that something needs to change. Whatever brings you to therapy, I believe your experiences deserve to be met with curiosity, compassion and without judgement.

My approach is humanistic, which means I see you as a whole person rather than a diagnosis, a problem or a collection of symptoms. I’m interested in your unique experiences, your relationships, your history and the meaning you make of your life.

I also bring my own lived experience to my work. Around 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and, more recently, with ADHD.

These experiences have given me a personal understanding of the complexities that can come with diagnosis, identity and trying to make sense of yourself. They have also deepened my curiosity about the many different ways our minds work and how our experiences shape us.

One of my particular areas of interest is working with neurodivergent clients, however, you don’t need to be neurodivergent to work with me. My practice is open to anyone who feels they would benefit from a supportive and accepting therapeutic relationship.

I don’t see therapy as about fixing something that is wrong with you. Instead, I see it as an opportunity to slow down, become curious about yourself and understand the experiences that have brought you to where you are.

My hope is that therapy can be a place where you don’t have to pretend, perform or have everything figured out. You can simply come as you are.

Practice description

I offer a calm, collaborative and down-to-earth space where you can explore what is happening in your life without judgement. Together, we can make sense of difficult patterns, understand what you need and work towards meaningful, lasting change.

I offer walking therapy, but if walking is not right for you — or the weather has other ideas — sessions can take place in a calm and private therapy room in Chipping Norton or virtually. In-room, virtual and walking sessions can also be combined when helpful.
