Availability

I am currently accepting enquiries from new adult clients.

My usual working hours are weekdays, with some evening appointments available, and a limited number of Saturday morning sessions. Sessions are offered by appointment only.

I aim to respond to enquiries within working hours and will reply as soon as I am able. If I am unable to offer a suitable appointment time immediately, I am happy to discuss options or support you in finding alternative therapeutic services where appropriate.

Please note that I am not able to offer crisis support. If you require urgent help, you are encouraged to contact your GP, NHS 111, your local crisis team, or emergency services.

Any planned periods of leave will be communicated in advance and discussed within therapy to ensure continuity and appropriate support.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist with over 20 years鈥 experience working within mental health services. I offer a warm, reflective, and collaborative therapeutic space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace. My work is grounded in person-centred values, with a strong emphasis on empathy, authenticity, and respect for each individual鈥檚 lived experience.

Alongside my psychotherapy qualification, I bring a long-standing professional background in mental health pharmacy, prescribing, and behaviour change work. I am currently undertaking additional specialist training in working with eating disorders and disordered eating. My academic and clinical interests include exploring the links between ADHD, emotional regulation, and eating difficulties, which informs my work in a thoughtful and ethical way.

I work in a trauma-informed and ethically reflective manner and am mindful of how early experiences, relationships, culture, faith, and wider social contexts can shape emotional wellbeing. Where it feels meaningful for the client, I am open to exploring themes of spirituality, faith, meaning, and values within therapy, always led by the client and held with respect for differing beliefs and worldviews.

I have experience working with adults presenting with grief and bereavement, including baby loss, miscarriage, and pregnancy loss, as well as fertility-related difficulties. I also work with depression, anxiety, low self-worth, shame, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship issues, and eating-related concerns. I aim to offer a space where clients do not feel rushed to change or 鈥渇ix鈥 themselves, but are supported to develop deeper self-understanding, self-compassion, and emotional clarity.

I am committed to ongoing professional development, regular supervision, and ethical practice, and I view therapy as a relational process in which growth emerges through being deeply heard, understood, and accepted.

Practice description

My practice offers a calm, confidential, and supportive space for adults seeking to explore emotional difficulties, life transitions, and experiences of loss. I work at a pace that feels manageable for each client, recognising that therapy can feel daunting, particularly when emotions have been held privately for a long time.

Sessions are collaborative and client-led, with an emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I do not take a directive or prescriptive approach; instead, I support clients to develop greater understanding of themselves, their patterns, and their emotional responses. Over time, this can help clients feel more grounded, resourced, and able to make meaningful changes in their lives.

My work is trauma-informed and attentive to issues of safety, power, and emotional regulation. I am particularly mindful of how experiences such as grief and bereavement, baby loss and miscarriage, fertility difficulties, depression, anxiety, shame, and low self-worth can impact both emotional and physical wellbeing. Where relevant, I also work with eating-related concerns and body image difficulties, always with careful attention to risk and ethical boundaries.

I am open to working with themes of spirituality, faith, meaning, and values where these are important to the client, and I hold this work with respect for different beliefs and worldviews. My aim is to offer a steady, compassionate therapeutic relationship in which clients feel seen, understood, and supported to move towards greater self-acceptance and emotional clarity

My first session

The first session offers an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy. I aim to provide a calm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

During this session, we may talk about what you are hoping for from therapy, any current concerns, and relevant background information if you wish to share it. There is no expectation to tell your whole story, and you will not be pressured to discuss anything before you feel ready. My role is to listen, support, and help you begin to make sense of your experiences.

I will also explain how I work, discuss practical arrangements such as confidentiality and boundaries, and answer any questions you may have. Where appropriate, we may gently consider what ongoing therapy might look like, but there is no obligation to commit to further sessions at this stage.

The first session is charged at my standard session rate and is treated as a full therapeutic session rather than an assessment. Many clients find it helpful simply to experience what it feels like to be heard and understood.
