About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I鈥檓 Lisa. I鈥檓 an Integrative Counsellor, and at the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. For me, this means offering empathy, respect, and a genuine therapeutic relationship, while also drawing on different counselling models to meet you as an individual. I work at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you.

I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is going on for you. I believe counselling works best when you feel safe, listened to, and accepted, so I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where you can be yourself and explore things in a way that feels right for you.

My way of working is therapeutic and relational, guided by compassion and curiosity, and by the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Our work together is collaborative 鈥 I won鈥檛 tell you what to do or try to fix you. Instead, I鈥檒l walk alongside you, supporting you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and helping you build greater understanding and self-awareness.

Practice description

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, loss, or feeling stuck or overwhelmed. You may also just have a sense that something isn鈥檛 quite right, even if it鈥檚 hard to explain. Counselling can offer you a chance to pause and reflect 鈥 a space where we can gently make sense of your experiences together and support you in finding your own way forward.

I offer both online and face-to-face counselling for adults aged 18 and over, and I have experience supporting people with a wide range of concerns. I have a particular interest in working with:

鈥 Low self-esteem

鈥 Anxiety, stress, and burnout

鈥 Living with chronic illness

鈥 Relationships

鈥 Life transitions

鈥 Bereavement

Alongside my counselling qualification, I bring over 20 years of experience working in the wellbeing sector, supporting people physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

My first session

I believe it鈥檚 really important that you find the right counsellor for you, and so I offer a complimentary 20-minute introductory call where you can ask any initial questions and get a feel for whether working together feels like a good fit. There鈥檚 no pressure and no obligation to book a session afterwards.

Your first session is then a chance for us to meet and for you to experience the space in your own time. We鈥檒l begin by going through some practical details, such as confidentiality and what you can expect from our work together. After that, you鈥檒l be gently invited to talk about what has brought you to counselling, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

You鈥檙e always in control of what you choose to share, and there鈥檚 no expectation to talk about anything before you feel ready. There鈥檚 no 鈥渞ight鈥 or 鈥渨rong鈥 way to use the time. Some people arrive with a clear idea of what they want to explore, while others prefer to start by talking more generally about how things feel for them right now 鈥 both are completely ok.

My role is to listen with care and without judgement, and to support you in exploring your thoughts and feelings in a safe way. I won鈥檛 give advice or tell you what to do, but I鈥檒l work alongside you to help you make sense of your experiences.

Towards the end of the session, we can reflect together on how the session has felt and what you might like to focus on moving forward. The first session is about creating a sense of safety and understanding, and about seeing whether this feels like the right space for you.
