About me and my therapy practice
Are you finding life challenging or hard to navigate? You don’t have to face it alone. I provide a safe, culturally sensitive, non-judgmental space where you can be truly heard and understood. As a Muslim counsellor, I bring a unique perspective and deep respect for diverse experiences. We’ll work through your challenges and develop healthier ways to cope and manage, building your confidence and resilience to help you move toward an empowered and fulfilling life!
Drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT alongside traditional counselling and coaching techniques, I offer a holistic approach to support your well-being. As a Bangladeshi counsellor, I understand the challenges of cultural dynamics and being Muslim in the 21st Century. You’ll be met with safety, respect and support as we work toward healing and change
Practice description
With a background supporting survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence, I bring a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to counselling. Alongside my private practice, I work for Victim Support, assisting individuals dealing with various types of trauma and hardship.
My professional credentials include a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, with a specialism in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), complemented by additional training such as Islamically integrated psychology and coaching. My work is grounded in professional standards and culturally sensitive practice, reflecting a strong commitment to providing therapy that is both effective and inclusive.
Coming from a culturally rich but often complex background, I understand first-hand how faith, family expectations, and identity can shape our inner world. My path into counselling was shaped not only by professional training and client work, but also by personal experiences that led me to re-evaluate life, identity, and well-being on a deeper level. These experiences have given me insight into the complexities of emotional struggle, family and cultural pressures, and the resilience it takes to heal and move forward.
My first session
During the initial consultation, we will have already covered key information such as what has brought you to counselling, whether we are a good fit, and any immediate questions or concerns you may have.
The first counselling session is where we begin the therapeutic work in more depth. This session focuses on exploring your experiences, emotional patterns and current challenges in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space. We will begin to gently unpack relevant background factors such as faith, culture, family dynamics, identity, and past experiences, only at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You may be asked to complete a brief assessment or reflection exercise to help identify themes, strengths and areas you would like to work on. This supports a more tailored and holistic approach to therapy, informed by evidence-based methods such as CBT, alongside culturally and Islamically sensitive perspectives where appropriate.
Together, we will begin to clarify your goals and identify initial coping strategies or areas of focus. There is no expectation to share everything in the first session, therapy is a process, and we move at your pace.
My priority is to ensure you feel safe, heard, and supported as we begin working toward healing, resilience and meaningful change.
