About me and my therapy practice

It is not uncommon to reach a point in life where you feel you need to reach out for help and talk about what is going on for you in a safe space without the fear of being judged, not being taken seriously and with someone who is trained to help you.

Talking to family and friends can be a helpful and supportive outlet. However, for many specialist areas they are often not the right people to talk to when reaching out for help and it can be counterproductive causing you to become even more entrenched in the problem that you were trying to deal with and left feeling helpless and in despair.

I offer a welcoming, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to talk and explore any areas of your life that may be causing you to experience psychological and emotional pain in a safe setting. It doesn't matter how problematic your life is or what form the problems or challenges in your life take, if they are causing you to be unhappy then therapy can help you. 

My first session

Knowing what to expect can take a lot of the anxiety out of starting counselling.

Our initial counselling session is mainly about getting to know you, understanding what brings you in, and making sure I feel like a good fit for you.

I'll invite you to tell me what brings you to counselling now, what you鈥檙e struggling with and how long it鈥檚 been going on. You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out鈥斺淚 just don鈥檛 feel like myself鈥 is a perfectly valid starting point.

Together we will start to shape what you want from therapy. This might be very clear (鈥淚 want to stop having panic attacks鈥) or vague (鈥淚 want to feel better鈥). Both are okay.

I'll explain my therapeutic approach ,how often sessions happen, how long sessions last and you're welcome to ask anything - there are no 鈥渟illy鈥 questions.

Some people feel relieved, hopeful, nervous, or drained after a first session. Others feel unsure. All of this is normal. You don鈥檛 have to feel amazing right away for therapy to be working.

Our first session is also about you are also seeing whether you feel comfortable, respected, and understood.
