About me and my therapy practice
I offer a space in nature, in a wooden pod set out specifically for therapy. It provides a relaxing environment where you can explore your feelings, thoughts and life experiences at your own pace.
I work with adults and young people aged 10 and upwards. My aim is to create a warm atmosphere that helps guide you through even the most muddled of minds, so you can feel heard, understood and supported.
My approach is integrative and person centred. This means I meet each client as an individual and shape the therapy around your unique needs. Sessions offer an opportunity to reflect on difficult experiences, understand emotional patterns and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. I see the therapeutic relationship as collaborative, working alongside you to help you gain greater self awareness, resilience and clarity.
Practice description
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma, life transitions or low self esteem. You may also feel stuck or overwhelmed and want space to make sense of what is happening in your life. Counselling can provide time to process these experiences and find a way forward that feels more manageable and meaningful.
I offer flexible ways of working including in person sessions, online therapy and outdoor counselling where appropriate. My aim is to create a calm and respectful space where all emotions are welcome and where you can explore what is going on in your life without fear of judgement.
Counselling with me is about working together to understand what may feel unclear or difficult and gradually discovering new perspectives and possibilities for change.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin getting to know each other. It is a gentle starting point where you can talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process.
We will spend some time exploring what is currently going on in your life and any difficulties you may be experiencing. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. There is no pressure to explain everything straight away. The pace is led by you.
I will also explain how I work and answer any questions you may have about counselling. We may talk about practical things such as confidentiality, session structure and how we might work together going forward.
For some people, the first session is simply about settling into the space and seeing how it feels to talk. For others, it can be a chance to start exploring thoughts and feelings that may have been difficult to share elsewhere.
The first session also gives you the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Feeling safe and able to talk openly is an important part of counselling, so this time helps us both understand whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.
If we decide to continue, we can then begin working together at a pace that feels supportive and manageable for you.
