About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Gen - most people find it easier to use than my full name.

Coming to counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re not used to talking about your feelings, but my aim is to help you feel at ease, listened to and understood from the very beginning.

Our work will begin with me listening to what has been going on for you and what has brought you to seek support. Using the most up-to-date tools and techniques we will, together, formulate a plan for moving forward, and then work through it in a way, and at a pace, that is right for you as an individual.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a background as a learning disability and mental health nurse, and I bring over a decade of experience working within mental health services in  NHS. I have worked with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, bereavement, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties and life transitions, as well as supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches to suit your individual needs, including Person-Centred counselling, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and somatic approaches, alongside practical, evidence-based methods such as Human Givens Rewind technique.

I also have lived experience of ADHD, which gives me an added layer of understanding of overwhelm, emotional intensity, masking and feeling misunderstood. This helps me work with openness, empathy and flexibility, particularly with neurodivergent clients.

I offer both face-to-face and online counselling sessions, giving you the choice of what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

If you are considering counselling and would like to ask questions or get a sense of whether I might be the right fit for you, you are very welcome to get in touch for an initial, no-obligation conversation.
