About me and my therapy practice

My approach is integrative, grounded mainly in person-centred therapy, which places empathy, acceptance, and the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work. Where helpful, I may also draw on psychodynamic ideas to gently explore how past experiences and relationships may be influencing how you feel or relate in the present.

I have experience working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, identity issues and life transitions. I also have experience supporting individuals with a variety of mental health needs and have worked within NHS services.

Practice description

I'm a qualified integrative counsellor and a Registered Member of the Â鶹ԭ´´ (MÂ鶹ԭ´´).

I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, experiencing difficulties in your relationships, or simply finding it hard to cope with life's challenges. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it alone. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk openly at your own pace. My aim is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted. I believe that when we feel safe enough to explore our thoughts and emotions, meaningful change can begin to happen naturally.

Whether this is your first experience of counselling or you have had therapy before, you don't need to have all the answers before we meet. We can begin wherever feels right for you, working together at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin to explore what has brought you to counselling. You do not need to prepare anything beforehand or know exactly what you want to talk about.

We can discuss what you would like support with, what you hope to gain from counselling and any concerns or questions you may have about the process. I will also explain confidentiality, boundaries and how we can work together.

I may ask some questions to help me understand your circumstances and what you are currently experiencing. This is not about having to tell me everything straight away; we can take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Most importantly, the first session is a chance for you to consider whether you feel comfortable with me and whether I am the right counsellor for you. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is important to me, and there is no pressure to continue if you do not feel counselling with me is right for you.
