About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes it’s hard to talk openly with friends or family, and you might find yourself wanting a space that’s just for you. It can feel daunting to reach out, especially if you’re used to holding things together on your own.

I’m Caro, a Â鶹ԭ´´-registered integrative counsellor offering warm, compassionate therapy in Exeter, Dorchester, and online. I work with both women and men aged 18+. I provide a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental space to talk and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing with no pressure to be anything other than yourself.

You might appear to be coping, yet feel anxious, overwhelmed, or caught in your own thoughts. You may have lost confidence, feel unsure of yourself, or be dealing with loss, relationship difficulties, or the effects of a difficult past. You might also feel out of step with others, including around ADHD or autism. Perhaps menopause or perimenopause is prompting you to question where you are in your life.

Whatever is going on, you won’t be judged here. Therapy with me isn’t about being analysed from a distance or left sitting in silence. It’s a warm, thoughtful conversation where you can be honest about what’s really happening, even the parts that feel messy, frustrating, or hard to admit.

Practice description

Together, we can gently explore what’s going on beneath the surface, how the past may be shaping the present, and what might help life feel steadier and more manageable.

I work compassionately with trauma, and have particular experience supporting neurodivergent adults, including those navigating a later diagnosis. I am neurodivergent affirming.

I work in person in Exeter and Dorchester.

It is not uncommon to feel hesitant or unsure about seeking help. If you are considering therapy and would like to explore whether we could work together, please feel to contact me to arrange a free 20-minute phone consultation. This is a chance for us to talk through what you are looking for in therapy, any questions you may have and whether I may be the right person to support you.

My first session

After our initial telephone chat, and before we meet for our first session, I will send you a brief agreement explaining how I work, including confidentiality, privacy, and cancellations. You will also be able to complete your contact details and raise anything you would like clarified before we begin. This is so you know what to expect and to see if you have anything you'd like to discuss further.

Our first session is a space to slow down and take stock. We will explore what has brought you to therapy now, any relevant background, and what you are hoping might feel different over time. I will explain how confidentiality operates, and you are free to ask me whatever you need in order to feel settled and informed.

Choosing a therapist is personal. It matters that you feel at ease and that something about the fit feels right. I offer a free phone call beforehand so you can get a sense of how I am in conversation and whether my way of working feels like a good match.
