About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Caro and I’m an experienced integrative counsellor supporting adult men and women through life’s challenges. Sometimes talking about feelings may seem daunting. You may be looking for someone to talk things through other than friends or family. I provide a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental space to talk and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing with no pressure to be anything other than yourself.

Together, we can look at where you are in your life now and where you would like to be. You may feel that something in your life isn’t quite right. You may be feeling dissatisfied or distressed. You may want to explore the past or process difficult life events.  Whether you come to therapy with a clear sense of what you want to change or simply with a feeling that something needs to shift, I am here to work alongside you. Through building a trusting therapeutic relationship, together we can make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences, so you can find a way forward.

Practice description

I’ll support you to explore how early relationships and past experiences may be contributing to your feelings, thoughts and patterns of behaviour now. There may be things out of your awareness that are painful or keeping you stuck. I will work at your pace to strengthen your sense of self and develop new perspectives. Through greater self-awareness, change and growth become possible.

I work with adults who are struggling with a range of emotional and psychological issues and difficulties, including anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, domestic abuse, trauma, relationship issues, women's issues and work-related stress. I bring curiosity and care into each session so you can feel heard and supported. I work sensitively with trauma and am trained to do so. I often work with neurodivergent people (including gifted, highly sensitive or twice-exceptional), or those who may need support around a late diagnosis of autism, ADHD or AuDHD. I am neurodivergent affirming.

It is not uncommon to feel hesitant or unsure about seeking help. If you are considering therapy and would like to explore whether we could work together, please feel to contact me to arrange a free 20-minute phone consultation. This is a chance for us to talk through what you are looking for in therapy, any questions you may have and whether I may be the right person to support you.

My first session

After our initial telephone chat, and before we meet for our first session, I will send you a brief agreement explaining how I work, including confidentiality, privacy, and cancellations. You will also be able to complete your contact details and raise anything you would like clarified before we begin. This is so you know what to expect and to see if you have anything you'd like to discuss further.

Our first session is a space to slow down and take stock. We will explore what has brought you to therapy now, any relevant background, and what you are hoping might feel different over time. I will explain how confidentiality operates, and you are free to ask me whatever you need in order to feel settled and informed.

Choosing a therapist is personal. It matters that you feel at ease and that something about the fit feels right. I offer a free phone call beforehand so you can get a sense of how I am in conversation and whether my way of working feels like a good match.
