About me and my therapy practice
I work as an integrative counsellor, which simply means I don’t believe one approach fits everyone. I adapt the way I work to suit you, your experiences, and what you’re hoping to get from therapy. We go at your pace, focusing on what feels most important for you.
I draw on psychodynamic ideas, light CBT tools, using a humanistic, person-centred approach as the foudnation of our work together. This might involve gently exploring how past experiences are still affecting you today, while also looking at practical ways to cope with current challenges. Some sessions may feel more reflective, others more focused on finding ways to manage day-to-day difficulties - we work out together what feels most helpful.
For me, the relationship we build is key. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and able to be yourself. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel supported throughout the process.
Practice description
I offer integrative counselling in a relaxed, supportive, and confidential setting from Cambridge Therapy Rooms on King’s Parade, Cambridge. The practice is in a central Cambridge location and provides a calm, professional environment designed to feel welcoming.
My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable being open, even if you’re not quite sure where to start. Sessions are focused on helping you feel at ease, with the room offering a quiet, neutral setting away from everyday distractions.
Therapy with me is collaborative. We work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, making sense of what’s going on for you and identifying what may feel helpful moving forward. This may include reflecting on patterns of behaviour, building self-awareness, and finding practical ways to cope with difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, or relationship challenges.
Whether you come with a clear concern or simply a sense that something isn’t right, my role is to support you with warmth, empathy, and respect as you explore your experiences and work towards change at your own pace.
My first session
Before our first session, I usually offer a short phone call. This is a chance for you to tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, ask any questions, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
In the first session itself, we focus on getting to know each other and exploring what you hope to gain from therapy. I’ll also briefly go over the practical arrangements, such as session length, frequency, fees, and confidentiality, so you have a clear sense of what to expect. The full written contract can then be completed in the following session, once you feel comfortable continuing.
Everything happens at your pace - there’s no pressure, and the focus is always on what feels right for you.
