About me and my therapy practice

I offer therapy to adolescents and adults in a thoughtful, creative and collaborative way. I aim for our work to be non judgemental and rooted in curiosity, compassion and respect for each persons unique inner world.

In our work together we pay close attention to feelings, relationships and reoccurring themes, including between us in the therapeutic relationship itself. This can offer valuable insight into how you relate to others and open up further understanding of who you are, your identity and your true self.

I place particular emphasis on creativity and symbolism in the therapeutic process. Images, metaphors, music, dreams and moments of emotional resonance can all be meaningful ways in which we can better understand our inner self and interpret the unconscious mind.

I have a background of working in the creative industries and have been a freelance musician for over 20 years. I have an interest in working with those this area as I have an understanding of the emotional, psychological and psychosocial pressures faced by musicians, artists and others working or studying in the creative fields. This experience has informed my understanding of creative processes, performance pressure, identity and working in demanding or uncertain environments.

I also have a particular interest in working with adolescents and bring many years of experience from education, having worked as both a teacher and a lecturer. I understand that adolescence can be a challenging and uncertain time, shaped by rapid change and the pressures of the contemporary world. I offer a safe, thoughtful, and respectful space where young people can explore their experiences at their own pace, with care taken to provide a sense of security, understanding, and containment.

Practice description

Psychodynamic work is a talking therapy. It helps clients understand how past experiences can shape our current difficulties and the way we think and behave. This helps us to become more aware of the unconscious thoughts and patterns in life, which we sometimes unknowingly repeat.

Together we build an understanding of these patterns and early relationships, exploring at your pace. This therapy can help us to find more life fulfillment and improve our relationships. Over time this can lead to emotional growth, discovery of yourself in deeper more meaningful way and lasting change.

Sessions are weekly and last 50 minutes, and can be online via zoom or face to face.
